8 Quick and Easy Ways to be Obese

Obese

Do you know that your eating habits and your sedentary lifestyle are contributing factors to your body’s growth- sideways? Here are your bad habits when you are overweight:

  1. Skip breakfast: You only have time, perhaps, for a cup of coffee in the morning before you rush to work. You slept late the previous night and you got up late today. It is more or less a daily happening.

  1. Eat fast food for lunch: You have too much work to be completed in the office and you don’t have time to knock off for lunch. You usually order for a quick meal at KFC. The package is usually fried chicken and a big cup of Coke.

  1. Snack: In between work when hunger pangs strike you go for French fried or surgery foods to fill your stomach.

  1. Eat a lavish dinner: As you have skipped your breakfast and your lunch is not a proper lunch, in the evening you have a large and leisurely dinner at home. This is your largest meal of the day before you hit the bed.

  1. Be a couch potato: You loathe exercise. After work, you enjoy your favorite TV program with more junk food with perhaps a can of beer to reward yourself for a hard day’s work.

  1. Use your vehicle and take the lift more often than walking: Whatever the distance you prefer to go by car or take the elevator instead of walking around.

  1. Drink more alcoholic and sugary beverage than water: You daily consumption of beverage consists more of sugary drink and alcoholic drink instead of more plain water.
  2.  Eat quickly: The faster you eat means the more you will eat. It takes 20 minutes for the brain to notify you that you are full. You will not know you have overeaten when you eat quickly.

As time goes by your weight goes up and your energy goes down. You find it lazy to move around physically anymore and you are not as alert as before. Worse still you smoke to relax. Your performance goes downhill.

Blogging

Blogging is interesting, exciting, and very competitive. It is a level playing field. All things being equal accept your content and it is up to you to drive traffic to your blog. There is no chance for you to play politics and you can't depend on your friends and relatives. Your success depends on a worldwide audience.

According to Blogpulse, there are more than 107 million blogs out there. How do you fight for a place in the blogosphere with your name and your brand? Blogging is like riding a bicycle, the moment you stop paddling you fall. The most important thing to do is to keep your momentum by maintaining and managing your brand:

 • Keep on writing articles regularly and continuously about your niche to solve readers’ problems. Search engines will love your blog when your site is updated frequently.

 • Keep on bookmaking your articles to social bookmarking and social networking sites. Market your articles to a wider readership.

 • Keep on networking on the Internet to get more people to visit your blog. Network at Twitter, Facebook, Plaxo, and LinkedIn with like-minded people

 • Keep networking offline as well: One of the ways is to distribute your business cards to everyone you meet. Secure write-ups about you and your blog in the newspapers and magazines. Help new bloggers to create and establish their brand.

 • Monitoring feedback from readers. Check your Google Alerts and do a Twitter search to find out with others are saying about you and your blog. Take constructive criticism seriously and improve upon it.

When your blog is good you will get noticed but when it is not, your blog will be ignored. .It is a cruel and realistic world.

Traffic Rank from 8 Digits to 6 Digits in 19 Months – Secrets Revealed

Web Traffic

Image source:https://www.forbes.com/sites/gabrielshaoolian/2018/04/25/exactly-how-to-double-your-website-traffic-and-rank-higher-on-google-in-5-simple-steps/?sh=10933d4448eb

In the last few days, my Traffic Rank has just gone up to 6 digits (985,682) for the first time since I started blogging 19 months ago. I am happy, excited and my self-confidence is boosted. It’s a birthday present for me from Alexa because my birthday is today. Blogpulse has searched more than 107 million blogs in the blogosphere; it means my blog is among the top 1% in the world.

My articles are read by readers in over 40 countries. I am happy my articles enjoy international readership and this is what I have aimed for when I started blogging in October 2007. I have readers especially from North America, England, and India and most of the English-speaking countries. There are also readers who have translated my articles into their own languages to read my articles. Around one-third of my readers are from Malaysia.

The secret of my improvement can be summed up in 8 words:

Write, post, and market an article a day.

Writing articles: As you write an article a day you will soon develop into a good habit. Not only that, quantity develops into quality. You can look at my earlier articles they are all short ones and now I can write very much longer and better articles. :-)

Posting articles: Posting articles regularly will build the trust of the readers in you. Do it consistently to build a lasting relationship with your readers.

Marketing articles: As soon as an article is posted I will bookmark it at social bookmarking and social networking sites.

What is the significance when you do these three things consistently and persistently every day?

• Search engines: I have accumulated a collection of close to 600 articles over 19 months. More will be added every day. It means more and more readers will be reading my articles because search engines love sites that add new articles frequently. The other advantage is that my articles are, very often, on the first page of search results. About 65% of the traffic to my site is from search engines.

Traffic Rank: The popularity of my site can only go up because more articles will be added to my site. It means more readers from all traffic sources (referrals, direct, and search engines) will be reading my articles. In another 19 months, I will have more than 1000 articles.

Feeds: There are also readers who have subscribed to my feeds directly or indirectly through blog directories, social bookmarking sites, and feed directories such as Google Reader.

The key to success in blogging is consistency and persistence and you should aim for the long term.

Insya Allah (God willing), I will be writing another article next year today: Traffic Rank from 6 digits to 5 digits in 12 months.

13 Daily Efficiency Tips

Simplicity is the soul of efficiency
Simplicity is the Soul of efficiency

Getting organized to get things done efficiently every day means more time at your disposal to do the planning and creative thinking or to indulge in your interest and passion. Here are the tips to get things done efficiently and in less time:

  1. Take advantage of the daily to-do list to carry out your work: Organize your work in such a way that you can get most of the jobs done in one place before moving to the next location and other tasks.

  1. Do the important things in the morning: This is the time in which your energy level and the freshness of your mind are at your peak.

  1. Set a deadline: Always set a time limit for yourself so that things get done within a time frame, otherwise the task will expand to occupy your precious time.

  1. Do the difficult tasks first: Once the tough jobs are done you lift off a heavy burden and the rest of the jobs and the rest of the day will be easier for you.

  1. Paper and pen ready: You are ready to record creative thoughts whenever an idea flashes through your mind. If it is not captured immediately it will be gone.

  1. Stop work at the right place: When your work is interrupted stop at an appropriate place so that you don't have to redo the work again.

  1. Take breaks at regular intervals: It is a good habit to take regular breaks. A short break allows you to clear the clutter in your mind and help solve your earlier problems with ease.

  1. Delegate more: It is one of the effective ways to get things done and get you more time for other important work.

  1. Get rid of time wasters: Avoid people that steal your time for no useful purposes. Avoid unnecessary meetings.

  1. Complete today’s task today: The to-do list in a way is to help you get the things done on the same day. Do not allow your work to spill over to the following day. There will be more things to do the next day. You will feel a sense of achievement when the day's work is done with the to-do list all checked.

  1. Don’t look for perfection: Getting things done is more important than getting a job done perfectly. How do you measure perfection in any way? Just complete a task to the best of your ability.

  1. Planning before doing it: When you are given a new assignment do not rush to do it without proper planning. Doing things in haste means spending more time doing it all over again.

  1. One thing at a time: Focus on the job at hand with your full concentration. Do not allow your mind to think of other jobs to be done. Things can go wrong when you are not paying attention 100%. More time is wasted to rectify errors.

Being efficient means you are motivated to make yourself even more productive.

Herbs For Your Eyes

Herbs For Your Eyes
EYES

Apart from heart disease people are very concerned with vision problems.
Our sight is the most precious of the five senses, it is better to take precautionary measures to prevent such dreadful diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. While consuming vegetables and fruits may supply essential nutrients to your eyes, you can fortify your intake of nutrients by taking a supplement that includes A, C, E, and zinc. I would further recommend you to take the following herbs to strengthen your eyesight:

  • Eyebright
  • Bilberry
  • Fennel
  • Gingko
  • Spirulina
  • Chlorella

Eyebright: It is used to reduce redness and swelling. It tightens the mucous membranes of the eyes and appears to relieve the inflammation of conjunctivitis and blepharitis.

Bilberry: Bilberry contains anthocyanosides that may decrease the rate of macular degeneration and prevent other retinal conditions from occurring. It also improves night vision.

Fennel: It is reported that extracts of fennel seed have been shown in animal studies to have potential use in the treatment of glaucoma.

Gingko: It promotes blood circulation to the eyes, thus also improves the supply of oxygen. It has been used in Europe to aid in glaucoma and macular degeneration

Spirulina: It is a rich natural source of Beta-Carotene (Pro-Vitamin A), which helps improve eyesight.

Chlorella: It is a good source of lutein and zeaxanthin. Harvard researchers found that people with the highest consumption of lutein- and zeaxanthin-rich foods lowered the risk of macular degeneration by as much as 57%, compared to people who consumed the least amount of these foods.

You can obtain a mixture of the above herbs over the counter and this is the brand that I am using:

Eyebright Plus from Vitahealth.

It contains the following:

Eyebright
Fennel
Carrot (root powder)
Spirulina
Chlorella

I find herbal supplements to be beneficial to my vision.

Getting followers at Twitter – The Right Way

Twitter

In my previous two articles I have mentioned getting followers without trying in three different ways:

 • Bookmark your articles
• A bio at your profile section
• Don’t use underscores and numbers for your username

I find that the most effective way to get people interested in you is your useful articles. No wonder content is king. I have close to 200 followers and most of them follow me after reading my articles. Naturally, I follow back. The most effective way to market your articles is through Ping.fm. Take note of the following point:

 • Tweet your article title.

It must be appealing enough to entice readers to read and retweet your article. The other meaningful way is to do a search to follow people related to your niche. As an example ‘ self-improvement’ is my niche. When I key in these two words to do a search I can see the latest tweet on this subject. I will select among the list suitable people to follow. In most cases, they will follow me because we are talking on the same wavelength. When I choose someone to follow, the most important thing that I look for is their bio. The more the person tells about himself the easier it is for others to follow. The most effective way is to use an elevator pitch at your bio, short and right to the point about yourself. I will not follow someone without a bio. Happy following and being followed.

Blogging is about consistency. When you operate a store you open for business every day at the same time as advertised or else your customers will go away. Likewise, when you maintain a blog you do posting of your article at the same time every day to keep your readers. Here are the secrets of my blogging productivity.

 1. My posting rhythm: When I started blogging in 2007 I decided to write and post an article every day. . It has since developed into a productive habit. I post my article in the morning and it will be live in the afternoon to coincide with the start of a new day in America.

 2. Reading: I read widely - books, magazines, newspapers in English and Chinese. I get my daily ideas and inspiration from my habit of reading every day.

 3. Writer’s block: I do encounter writer’s block from time to time. Here are the things that I do when I run out of ideas:
 • Check and expand my previously written article from a short article to a long one.
 • Turn a point from an old article into a brand new article
 • Looking at old articles with a different perspective and transform it into a new article
 • Getting ideas from the Net by keying in keywords of my niche such as productivity tips, self-esteem tips, and time management tips. Looking for ideas on the net is like lighting a match stick in the dark. Suddenly, an idea flashes through my mind and I start writing immediately until the end.
 • Take out a book from my collection and see if it can inspire my creativity for a new article.

 4. Surfing the Net: I look for articles relating to self-improvement and I check forums on the same subject. I also go to Twitter and do a search for self-improvement. From there I will be able to learn the latest tweet in the blogosphere about my niche.

 5. Bookmark my articles: The traffic to my blog is still sluggish so I bookmark my articles at social bookmarking and social networking sites every day. I do it consistently in the evening so it becomes a productive habit.

 6. Backup articles: I can stop writing for 2 weeks without affecting my productivity because I have written and kept 14 articles at any one time just in case I am unable to write for a few days. This will definitely maintain my productivity in an emergency situation.

 7. Email: I read and reply to my email on a daily basis. It is more efficient and effective. Allow your inbox to accumulate is suicidal. Share your blogging productivity tips with the readers.

Outbound Marketing, Inbound Marketing and Blogging

Marketing

Outbound marketing

Outbound marketing is the traditional way of doing business. The techniques used are print adverting, ads on TV and radio, telemarketing, direct mail, and email, and many more. These forms of marketing are perceived as an interruption to customers. As an example, when you are watching your favorite TV program you are often interrupted by ads. Outbound marketing means customers are at the receiving end. They are not in control.

Inbound marketing

The emerging of the Internet has changed the way business is done. The customers are very much in control. They actively surf the Net for information and do shopping online. Inbound marketing means customers come to you. It is up to you to attract the customers to go to your site. Some of the new ways of marketing are:

  • Blogging
  • Search engine optimization
  • Networking on the blogosphere
  • Buzz marketing
  • Pay per click advertising
  • A detailed and sophisticated analysis of marketing performance

Blogging

The point I want to highlight is that when we do blogging we are actually practicing inbound marketing. We employ more or less similar methods to attract readers to our sites to read our articles. Here are some of the methods that we do to entice readers to visit our sites:

  1. Write and post unique and original articles to solve readers’ problems.
  2. Optimize our sites so that search engines can locate our sites and our articles easily.
  3. We market our articles to where the readers are: social bookmarking and social networking sites. We also submit our sites to blog directories and our articles to article directories.
  4. We network with others with similar niche and interests at social media sites.
  5. We employ analytical tools to track visitors to our sites. Arm with the right information we strengthening our uniqueness and reduce our weaknesses.

Isn’t it nice to know that when you do blogging you are also doing inbound marketing, the new way of marketing?

Service, Giving and Blog Content

Content

How does service and giving related to blog content?

Service
It is easy to see the services provided in a restaurant. You have seated and a waiter hand you a menu and you order for your favorite food. The dish is later served to you again by the waiter. However, service is more than that. Service is to serve with your talents, knowledge, and experience to benefit others. The best thing is to give more of yourself to the best of your ability. In other words, you create value for others. You help others to succeed by sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Giving According to Harvey S. Firestone,” You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself." Giving is from the heart and it is about quality and not quantity. When you give with sincerity and integrity you are giving real services.

Blog Content What has service and giving got to do with blog content? I think the concept is equally applicable to online activities. I have learnt from the above and I am determined to create value, provide service, and give it to my readers. Here are the pointers that I think are very important:

 • Guided by my niche, I will write articles that are of benefits and value to my readers on self-improvement

. • Relate personal experience to share with readers.

 • Write sincerely with the genuine interest of the readers in mind

. • The interest and passion to serve the readers with appealing and uplifting articles. According to Ken Blanchard, author of Raving Fans: A Revolutionary Approach to Customer Service,

“If you are going to put your energy into being the best at something, make sure it's serving your customers. You can’t just satisfy customers today, you’ve got to blow them away. You’ve got to create raving fans – customers who are so excited about what you do for them that they want to brag about you. When that happens, customers virtually become part of your sales force.”

How to be Creative – 7 Bright Ideas

How to be Creative – 7 Bright Ideas
Be Creative

Source;http://ipfinance.blogspot.com/2014/07/creative-industry-tax-reliefs-have-you.html

This is a true story. Recently my neighbor’s cat came over to shit at my doorstep and also spent the night under my car. It did the same thing for a few nights on the same spot. I was thinking of a way to solve this problem. When I looked at the adorable cat, it also stared at me innocently as if trying to tell me,” Not me, I didn’t do it!” Hurting the cat is not my option because I love animals especially cats. After much thinking, I came up with an innovative idea. One night before I went to bed, I sprayed insecticide on the spot where it used to shit, and then I went to sleep. The next day I was happy to find out that my doorstep was clean but the cat was still around under my car. Now, a cat, like any other animals, has a very sensitive nose and I have succeeded to cover the scent and stop the cat from shitting around. The best part is that I have not seen the cat in my house for the last few days. This is creativity.

Here are the 7 tips to boost your creativity:

1. Exercise: When you exercise, your conscious brain is in a relaxed state and the other creative half is still working. Some of the ideas come to my mind when I am jogging

2. Knowledge: Knowledge is power. Read widely to acquire new ideas. It helps to spark your creativity in solving your problems. This is especially true for a writer. A writer’s ideas and inspiration are mainly derived from extensive reading.

3. Sleepover it: When you have a problem, allow it to sink into your mind and then you go to sleep Let it incubates in your unconsciousness, when you get up the next day the answer to your problem is already in your mind.

4. A problem-solving attitude: When your mind is always on the look-out for ways to find answers to your problems at home and at work, you will be smarter, happier, and more creative.

5. Unfamiliar places: Inadvertently when you visit a new place it gives you a lot of ideas because your mind is in a receptive state in a new environment.

6. Positive mental attitude: Always tell yourself that there is a solution to every problem. Stay committed and be persistent to look for an answer.

7. Innovating: Do things differently, get away from your usual habits. Get into other areas not related to your expertise. Bounce an idea around to see if it can be used in another situation.

You have a problem? Congratulations! Put on your creative thinking cap.

Zig Ziglar – His 7 Success Secrets

Zig Ziglar (http://zigziglar.libsyn.com/)
Zig Ziglar

Zig is one of the greatest and most successful authors and motivational speakers in the world. He has a wonderful family and he enjoys robust mental and physical health. What are his secrets to success? I believe these 7 factors contribute to his success in life:

 1. Belief in God: He is a firm believer in Christianity. There is a quotation on the wall behind his desk: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28 He knows spiritual fulfillment is one of the delightful sources of happiness. He is capable of mixing religion to produce classic motivational books. He believes in the application of Bible principles in achieving success in life.

 2. Money: According to him,” Money may not be the most important thing in the world, but it’s fairly close to oxygen.’ He likes the things that money can buy but he loves the things money won’t buy.

 3. Taking care of physical health: He is an avid jogger and an enthusiastic golfer. According to him, people with better physical conditions perform better than those who are less healthy.

To live life fully and meaningfully you need to possess the following 7 things:

  1. Health and fitness: Your health and fitness will send positive vibrations to other areas of your life. Your mind is fresh, you look at things on the bright side and you are in top form. The other thing is that when you exercise to keep fit you also promote creativity. Keeping healthy and fit is the best thing that you can do to yourself in life.

  1. Financial freedom: I am not asking you to be wealthy. All you need to do is to maintain your financial independence that you can live within your means and without having to depend on others. You will also possess the essential material wealth to enjoy yourself in life.

  1. Lasting relationships: Harvard researchers reported that strong social ties could promote brain health as we age. People with strong friendships have lower stress levels. A close-knit family has a profound positive psychological effect on us. In other words, your spiritual and physical well-being is impacted favorably by your mutual connection with others.

  1. Knowledge and an appreciation of beauty: The only way to keep on top of things is to constantly update ourselves with the latest knowledge and information. We have to absorb the influx of new knowledge efficiently and effectively because there is too much information out there to digest. While we are doing that we must pause to appreciate and enjoy beautiful things in life such as literature, art, and music. A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

  1. Optimism: Your self-esteem and your self-confidence depend very much on your positive mental attitude. Whether a cup is half full or half empty depends on your thinking, and you are right. However, when your thoughts are positive you improve the chances of your success in whatever you do in life.

  1. Mission in life: You have your interest and passion in life. You are pursuing it fervently. It means a lot to you. There is something that you can look forward to every day. And you know what you do brings tremendous benefits to others.

  1. Kindness: We live in a world full of misery, agony, and sadness. By doing random acts of kindness to others we cheer them up, we bring them hope and we boost their self-esteem. Spread kindness around to make this world a better place to live.

Your happiness in life is fortified by your well-being, your financial independence, your connection to people close to you, your positive outlook in life, your quest for new ideas, your goals to achieve in life, and your kind gestures to others.

5 Things to Avoid in Life

5 Things to Avoid in Life

To live a meaningful and happy life you have to avoid the following 5 things:

1. Illness: This is a true story. He is in his early 50’s,a successful businessman. He is very hardworking and is as energetic as those who are very much younger than him. Life took a drastic turn on him. He has suffered from a stroke recently. He will be discharged from the hospital soon. When he is out of the hospital he will not be able to walk faster than your 80 years old granny at home, He has to walk with the support of a walking stick. When you have succumbed to critical illnesses you have lost everything in life.

2. Penniless: I read about it in the newspaper. Perhaps you have seen it on YouTube, There was a pregnant lady sitting beside a lamp post on a busy street in America begging for money. She had no dignity, she had no self-respect and she had no self-esteem. Perhaps, she had nothing left except that she was conceiving a baby. Poverty is misery.

3. Loneliness: His wife and his children left him, his friends and relatives deserted him. He is all alone. There is nobody for him to turn to and no one for him to talk to. There is nobody for him to connect to. He is living in isolation.

4. Pessimism: I don’t think I can do it, I may not succeed. I dare not ask my boss for a raise, he may get angry. I dare not ask her out, she may reject me. I can't change the way I work, it may not turn out right for me. I can’t be happy now because…Life is like riding a bicycle, the moment you stop peddling you fall.

5. Aimlessness: There are no goals and there are no objectives in life. There is nothing to look forward to. Life is full of boredom. There is no motivation and your energy level is at its lowest. You just drift from day today. Life is meaningless.
