Cancer Prevention – 10 Healthy Lifestyle Tips

Cancer Prevention

77% of the cancer cases are related to a person’s lifestyle, as reported by the American Institute for Cancer Research. Accordingly, the following types of people are most likely to attract cancer:

 1. People who are obese
2. Those who do very little physical activities
3. Those who enjoy oily food
4. Meat eaters and those who consume very little vegetables
5. Smokers
6. Heavy drinkers
7. Have a liking for salty stuff
8. Enjoy eating preserved food
9. Those who are under great pressure
10. Those who worry a lot

Here are the 10 tips to keep cancer at arm’s length:

 1. Watch out for your BMI (body mass index): For Asian, it should be around 18.5 to 22.9.
2. . Physical activities to make you sweat: You walk, jog, dance, cycle, or climb stairs for at least 30 minutes each day.
 3. Drink green tea: Green Tea contains antioxidants to stifle cancer.
 4. Eat a lot of fresh vegetables: Eating more of a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and legumes such as beans can help you to prevent cancer of the digestive system.
 5. Eat less fat: For example, you drink skimmed milk instead of full cream milk. When you eat chicken just remove the skin. As for cooking try to steam instead of fry.
 6. Eat more poultry and less red meat: Eat more chicken and fish instead of pork, mutton, and beef.
 7. Give up smoking and drinking: It does not matter how old you are. The moment you stop these habits you can reduce the chances of getting cancer.
 8. Avoid sugary drinks, food high in added sugar and consume less salty foods: Drink water to quench your thirst instead of carbonated drinks.
 9. Breastfeeding: It is best for mothers to breastfeed for up to 6 months. According to research breastfed babies have fewer chances of getting cancer and for breastfeeding mothers, the chance of getting breast cancer is much less.
 10. Be happy: When you worry and under pressure, you are more likely to be a victim of cancer. For those who are always under pressure, their immune systems are less active.

Education and Your Children

Education and Your Children

Nowadays seeking quality higher education is just as competitive as the business world. Just look around you, when it is examination season some parents even go to the extent of taking leave just to accompany their child to get over this critical period. The child is not under pressure but the parents are.

We cannot deny having good academic results are the passport to higher education of your choice. So we cannot ignore the marks scored by your child at school. How to get better marks in the examinations?

 A well-developed mental faculty
A healthy and fit body
 High EQ or stable emotion
 Effective study methods

When you lack one of them your success rate will be discounted. As long as your child is not dumb he will have the potential to succeed. As long as your child does not fall ill most of the time he is considered healthy. The environment that you bring up your child decides his emotional stability. Parents need to observe their children closely and shower them with love and create a happy atmosphere for the child.
As for the last point, the child needs to work hard to score well, no sweat no gain. The most important point to remember is that when your child is happy he will be able to do well and get good results.

However, when your child does his best and yet he can't score well then you just have to accept the fact. One way to do it is to lower the expectation of your child. Instead of aiming for the top three positions perhaps among the top ten positions will be more practical. Don’t bother too much about your child's academic results. There are cases of children whose results may be so-so while they are at school but they are able to achieve great success in their career. On the other hand, there’re cases of children who excel in their studies and yet they cannot perform well in their career. Maybe they have a poor relationship with others. Do not be too happy when your child obtains flying colors in his examinations and too concerned when your child’s results are not as good as expected.

Unique and Original Articles – 7 Traffic Tips

Increase Website Traffic

How do you take advantage of your unique and original articles that you have written to send traffic to your site? Here are the 7 traffic tips:

1. Blog Posts: You write your unique and original articles and post them to your own site. And from your blog you let the search engines search your site by the keywords that you have used in your articles. More than 50 % of surfers look for information on the Net by keying in certain search words. When the keywords in your article match their searches your article is listed among others by the search engine.

2. Article Distribution: You select from your articles and submit your popular ones to article directories. For each article that you submit you add, at the end of the article, the URL of your site and also the URL of the original article.
When you do these, you comply with Google‘s advice so that the crawler will know where the original article is and also there is no duplication of content. Secondly, you build two backlinks to your site. One is directly linking to your front page and another one is linking to the article page.

3. Social Bookmarking: This is another excellent way to build traffic to your site. When your article is bookmarked, readers will have to click the link at the bookmarking site in order to go to your site to read the full story. You can bookmark your articles in many places: Mixx, Furl, Digg. Reddit, Propeller, Faves, and many more.

4 Join Blog Carnivals: This is by far the best way to bring traffic to your site. You can join blog carnivals at blogcarnival.com. When your article is selected, your article link and your blog link can be found in the organizer’s article at his site. It is actually a wonderful one-way backlink to improve your Page Rank and Traffic Rank. Check this carnival that I joined recently at Thatsblog.

5 Submit Your Blog to Blog Directories: By joining blog directories you are also encouraging traffic from other members of the directories to visit your blog. For some directories, your articles are listed and linked to your site. Bloglines, Blogarama, Blogdigger, Blogflux, and Bloggernity are some of the many directories that you can join and direct traffic to your site.

6 Forums: Participation in forums discussing about subjects relating to your blog posts is also a good way to send traffic to your site because you provide a URL link to your site at your signature panel.

7 Comments: Just like forums when you make comments on other sites you also leave a one-way backlink to your site. When you share a common interest with the site that you have commented you are also prompting the blog owner to visit your site.

Syndicate Your Unique and Original Articles and Avoid Duplicate Content

How to Syndicate Articles

According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary “duplicate” (adjective) means exactly like something else; made as a copy of something else. So, duplicate content means the exact content as the original.

On the other hand, Google’s crawler is always hungry for unique original articles to be presented to searchers. According to Google’s Webmaster Central Blog, it is stated that ”Our users typically want to see a diverse cross-section of unique content when they do searchers. In contrast, they’re understandably annoyed when they see substantially the same content within a set of search results.”

In the same article, it is further stated that if you syndicate your content on other sites, make sure they include a link back to the original article on each syndicated article.

So how do you use your unique and original articles to attract traffic to your site without being suspected of duplication? From among your articles choose the most popular ones and send them to article directories like ezinarticles.com. At the end of each article that you submit there is a resource box. You put a URL link to your site. At the same time, you also put a URL link to your original article. This is what I have added in the resource box at the end of an article that I submitted to ezinearticles.com: My Blog: All About Living With Life Posted originally by the author at Heart - Love it or Die in 5 Ways By doing this you are killing two birds with one stone. Firstly, there is no duplication of content, because from the two links crawler will know where the original article is. Secondly, you have 2 one-way backlinks from a site with a Traffic Rank of 268 as of October 22, 2008. One is linking to your front page and another one is linking to your article page.

"Flyer” Article and “Filler” Article

Are you Writing the right Article?

A flyer is a piece of advertisement. You either advertise your products or your services. It is a brilliantly conceived and well-thought-out copy to give maximum impact. What is a Flyer article then? Like a flyer, a Flyer article is written with forethought, you already know what you are going to write. You either have thought about it or it is from your creative juice. So when you write the ideas will just flow through and it does not take too long to complete the first draft. A Flyer article is a unique and original article that you have incubated for quite a while. It is well written and is appealing to the readers.

On the other hand, a filler is something that we use to fill up something. There is a small hole on the wall and you fill-up the hole with something. You just need to do it or else it is an eyesore. Likewise, a Filler article is written without any preconceived ideas. There are no creative thoughts coming. You have no idea what to write. On the day when you are supposed to write but you do not know what to write. But you know you have to come up with something. Somehow you get an article out. There are no advanced ideas for the article. This type of article is less attractive to the readers though it is a perfect article in terms of grammar and structure.

There is no punch in the content I would like to give these two terms some new meanings. A Flyer article is an article written with a lot of thoughts or ideas from your creative juice. The article is well written. It is compelling. It carries weight and the readers love it. A Filler article, on the contrary, is written with no original thoughts at all. There is no plan to write the article just that you have to write one. So a Filler article has less appeal. A pillar article is a flyer article but not all flyer articles are pillar articles. What is your comment?

PageRank, Article Writing and My Blog

My PageRank

My blog is celebrating its first anniversary today. For the past one year, I have learnt many things: from PageRank to Traffic Rank, from pay per click to pay per action, from search engines to search engine optimization, from feeds to pings, from social bookmarking to blog directories, from article writing to keywords. I learned the hard way because I am an alone blogger. And I blog only when I have the time. As I have written and posted one article a day. My article writing skills have come a long way. When I just started my articles were very short. As I go on writing consistently day after day, my writing style has improved by leaps and bounds. Now, I am able to write more than 500 words per article. Lately I have received favorable comments from the readers. These comments are sincere because they are not my friends and I don’t know them. I must thank them for motivating me to write better articles. Sometime in May this year, I had a pleasant surprise. I noticed a PageRank of 1 (see image) on the screen. You know, six months ago I had no links and nothing else. All that I had were just my own articles. A few months later I was again surprised to see that my PageRank was downgraded to 0. Like many other bloggers have experienced, PageRank is an elusive thing. Now you see it, now you don't. From 1 to 0 is noting. There are others who were slapped with a 0 or no grading at all from a PageRank of 5 or 4. Now my inner pages are graded 1 again and hopefully, I can see my ranking back to 1 on the front page soon. It will be a timely gift for my blog’s birthday.

Hair Loss - A Few Tips to Gain a Full Head of Hair

Hair Loss

According to hair specialists shedding 70 to 100 strands of hair, daily are normal. You just need to find out in the morning when you wake and also when you wash your hair to see if the amount of hair loss is more than normal. If it goes on for months you will be able to notice that you have less hair than before in a certain area.

Hair loss is closely linked to your diet and your well-being. You need to observe the following:

 · Develop a happy habit from within. Meditate to get peace of mind, and do not allow excessive pressure to build up.

 · Do not cut short your sleeping hours. You need sufficient time to rest and rejuvenate.

 · Avoid eating too much oily and sweet stuff.

 · Give up smoking and drinking The way you care for your hair is also important to control hair loss:

 · Do not wash your hair too often. Two to three times a week is good enough. Unless your work is such that your hair gets dirty very quickly then you need to wash your hair daily

 · The temperature of the water should be around 30 degrees C. Don't use the hairdryer too long every time you dry your hair

The last tip is very important. Use soap instead of shampoo to wash your hair. You know the good old soap. “Lux” was a popular brand before shampoo came into the picture. I have switched to soap for a few months and I can see positive results. My hairdresser has confirmed that there is" baby hair” growing on my head. You have to be patient. You need to use it for a few months to see noticeable results. I hope after using soap you can comment about your results here and share with other readers.

Supplement Your Income

Supplement Your Income

When you have taken steps to trim your expense, it is also prudent to look for additional income sources to offset the rising cost of living and to save more for rainy days. When you reduce your expenses and supplement your income at the same time you are taking a two-pronged approach to financial freedom. In Chinese, there is a saying: 开源节流 (Kai yuan jie liu). It literally means opening up more incoming water sources and reduce the outflow of water.

 What can you do to bring home additional income? You can consider the following;

Writing: Be a writer and send your articles to major newspapers or magazines. You can also create a blog at blogger.com to write unique and original articles regularly and collect earnings from AdSense.

Teaching: Provide tuition in English. As you know the standard of English has gone to the dogs. You can use your language skills to make extra bucks.

Financial services: If this is your cup of tea you can be a financial planner or an agent selling insurance products or unit trusts.

DJ: You can turn your passion to good use when music is in your blood. You can be a part-time DJ at one of the local entertainment outlets

Photography: When you are good at taking photographs to become a freelance photographer to make some money by helping others to capture those precious moments at wedding, functions, birthday parties, or even commercial gigs

Event Organizer: Be a party planner and organize an annual staff party for companies, company outings, wedding, and functions

Your spouse: Your wife may be good at cooking certain dishes, cakes, or desserts. She can start a small stall and sell those items for half a day. She can also take care of infants or children during the day for working couples. She can also be a fashion designer if she has a flair for it.

Part-time accounting: Help small businesses to keep their books for a fee.

The list is endless. Think of something you enjoy doing and turn it into a lucrative source of additional income,

Reduce Your Expenses

Shopping Trolley 1

The financial crisis worldwide has devastated many rich people and worse still many others are out of a job and even more, are going to be unemployed soon. The situation is so bad that there are people who have resorted to taking their lives away to escape from the financial meltdown.

Count yourself lucky that you are still able to keep your job. It is time to review your spending pattern and reduce your expenses as the worst is yet to come.

Lifestyle changes: Examine your lifestyle. Are you still going on a spending spree?
No more impulsive buying and refrain from purchasing non-essential items. Don’t renew the gym membership. Cancel those subscriptions that you don’t have the time to read. Instead of going to the movies buy DVDs and watch them at home. Terminate your connection to Astro and watch TV programmes instead.

Food: Instead of eating out you still can buy your favorite breakfast food and enjoy it at home. Eat more often at home because home-cooked food is healthier and cost less.

Health: Give up smoking and drinking. Drink water instead of carbonated drinks. Maintain good health to avoid incurring medical expenses.

Utility Bills: Make it a good habit to switch off all electrical appliances when they are not in use. Use energy-saving light bulbs. Install a showerhead to take bath. Turn on the air-conditioner and the fan during the early hours of the night and then turn off the air-conditioner later and allow the fan to circulate the air in the room. Make sure that there are no leaky faucets at home.

Your House: Make minor repairs before they become major ones.

Credit cards: Keep only those cards without annual fees. Use your cards only to take advantage of savings. For example, you use a CIMB-PETRONAS card for petrol purchases and you use a Citibank-Giant card for grocery shopping at Giant.

Shopping: Buy house brand items instead of popular brands at cheaper prices and the quality is more or less the same.

Books: For storybooks loan from the library instead of buying new ones because you read only once.

Big-ticket items: When you need to replace expensive household items get a zero interest installment plan from your credit cards so that you can spread the payments up to 12 months or more. By doing so your monthly budget will not be impacted and there is no additional cost to you.

When you are careful in your spending you will soon develop into a thrifty habit.

Financial Freedom - 7 Successful Steps

Financial Freedom

In order to achieve financial freedom, you need to, first of all, find out your current situation. When you are in debt especially credit card debts you need to settle those debts before you can start saving because the interest from the savings is very much less than the interest charged to your credit card's outstanding balance. Let’s look at the steps to be taken to gain financial independence:

 1. The root of the problem: You can start paying off your debts especially your credit card debts but if you continue to adopt a lavish spending lifestyle, there will be no end to it. Find out if you are spending on what you need or what you want. Stop buying unnecessary items and be happy with what you have. You are one step nearer to reach your money goals when the problems are identified and you put a stop to them. If you are unable to give up your impulsive spending habit by using credit cards, the best thing to do is to cancel all the credit cards.

 2. Allocate an amount for essential items every month to cover food, petrol, children's education, housing loan, and utility bills. Stop spending any more on what you want.

 3. Debt settlement arrangement: Look at all the credit card outstanding amount and other debts and use whatever money that is left to reduce your debts. Start by settling the debt with the highest interest rate. Select to settle a smaller outstanding amount from your debts. By doing so it gives you relief that you have settled one of your debts and give you the motivation to settle the rest.

 4. Add new sources of income: You can do it right at home like I do. I write articles and I collect earnings from AdSense, though the amount is small. Two points to note here. With the additional income, you can pay off your debts faster and you can set aside an amount for emergency from the extra cash.

 5. Pay yourself first: When you are out of debt you can now put aside an amount every month. If you can’t do it all by yourself then you take up an investment-linked insurance policy to force yourself to save.

 6. Time is an important factor in savings: The wonder of compound interest will help you to make your savings grow. The more you can save and the sooner you start the easier it is to reach your saving goals.
7. Invest your savings: When you have accumulated a substantial amount you can start looking for investment channels. This is an area that you need to be careful or else your precious savings will vanish in the air. Traditionally, you can invest in blue chips, unit trusts, and properties in selected locations.

 Summary

First of all, you need to identify your financial problems and put a stop to them. Is it unnecessary spending on your credit cards or is it your gambling habits? Spending on what you want will lead to more debts. Always set aside an amount to cover monthly expenses and pay off your debts with the balance. At this juncture, you can't start saving yet. The interest from your debt is very much higher than the interest you can earn from your savings. Pay the highest interest debt first but chose a debt with a smaller amount. You will get a little relief when one of the debts is settled. Try to supplement your income to reduce your debts faster and start earlier to save. When you are unable to discipline yourself to save, arrange with the bank for a standing order to pay monthly for, say, an investment-link insurance policy, When you have substantial savings you can look for investment avenues to give you a better ROI (return on investment). You gain financial freedom by taking these steps diligently.

Lychee (荔枝 li zhi) - A Wonderful Health Fruit

Lychee

I enjoy eating the sweet, fragrant flesh of the lychee fruit very much. However the fruit is more than the sweetness and tastiness, it is packed with a lot of health benefits. It is a tropical fruit mainly grown in China. The fruit is red, rough, and bumpy on the outside and juicy white on the inside. When you eat the flesh there is a big black seed right inside. It is not edible.

In ancient Chinese records, it is stated when you eat lychee regularly you can boost your brainpower and strengthening your body. It is further stated that it is one of the best fruits among all fruits and it is best to consume while it is fresh. According to researches lychee, which contains flavonoids in its pulp, is very effective in preventing the growth of cancer especially breast cancer. Like other fruit, lychee provides a great source of vitamin C. Vitamin C is essential to combat heart diseases. The fruit is also good for those who suffer from colds, fevers, and sore throats. For the Chinese, they believe that it has the ability to relieve pain and reduce swollen glands. Eat lychee for the maintenance of optimum health and weight loss. Lychee also contains phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, copper, and protein. It is low in calories, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. A delightful way to eat lychee is to eat it with ice cream as a dessert. It’s yummy.

Five Gifts For Your Children

When your children obtained excellent results in their exams you will buy them gifts to reward and motivate them. When they are admitted to the university you will rejoice and celebrate the occasion. What are the best gifts you can give to your children when they are young? The following five gifts are the best gifts that parents can give to their children and you can't buy them with money.

The first gift: A discipline and a healthy lifestyle - Develop in them a habit of going to bed and waking up at the same time. Get them involved in doing the household chores. Cultivate a good eating habit of avoiding junk food. Develop a daily routine to do study and take up physical activities.

The second gift: Develop a reading habit among the children. Start by reading bed time stories to them. Set a good example at home by reading books instead of watching TV. Books are sources of knowledge information. Develop in them a quest for knowledge. This is the foundation of a good habit in lifelong learning,

The third gift: The ability to build relationships - encourage your children to participate in extra curriculum activities in school and take part in other youth groups. It is a way to develop their healthy relationships with others. They will learn to give and accept instructions in different situations. This will help them to get along with others well.

The fourth gift: The loves of nature - Nowadays children spend a great deal of time indoor to study and when they are free they are glue to the monitor and spend very little time outdoor. Parents should take them outdoor to explore nature, to stimulate their curiosity about nature. In a way it is to develop in them a healthy body by being a part of nature.

The fifth gift: The love of the parents – Your care and concern will nurture your children a healthy growth physically and mentally. They will in return treat others with a caring attitude.

All the gifts will go a long way for the children When they are big enough to venture into the world by themselves they will be more successful to live independently, to live with others and to appreciate nature more – the only place we have in this world.

Job to Career – 8 Success Factors

Job to Career – 8 Success Factors
Personal development

According to the Longman Dictionary, the word job is defined as the work that you do regularly to earn money, especially when you work for a company or public organization while a career is the type of work that you do or hope to do for most of your life.

Basically, a job is a means to an end and it is a short-term thing. For example, you take up a job during your school holiday to kill time or earn some pocket money. You may also provide tuition at the weekend to pay for your tertiary education.

Your career, even though it is also mean to an end, it occupies a very large portion of your life. It is, in fact, more than one-third of your daily life. It is very important that your career gives you meaning, growth, advancement, satisfaction, happiness and fulfillment, and of course monetary rewards.

Here are a few tips to help you attend success in your career:

1. Long term planning: It is not a one-off activity. As you go along you need to track your progress and make changes accordingly. For example, your lifestyle changes when you were a bachelor before and now that you are the father of three.

2. Happiness at work: As you spend a big chunk of your time at work it is crucial to develop a happiness habit at work. No matter how difficult or challenging, take every assignment with a smile. Do not complain about your job and don't think that the grass is always greener in another company.

3. Personal Development: Take the initiative to acquire more skills needed to make yourself more indispensable at the place of work.

4. Be prepared mentally for the worse: The business world is unpredictable, be resilient to downsizing or retrenchment when the economy is gloomy. Use the time to learn new skills and offer to take up voluntary work while hunting for another job. The other thing that you can do is to take on extra projects. So that you are more valued at the workplace and you'll be the last one to be considered for retrenchment.

5. Take the opportunity: When you are doing the same workday in day out, you should grab the opportunities that come along to enrich your career. You don’t want to be deadwood in the same company.

6. Give to others: Be a coach and assist the junior staff to develop their career in the company. Offer services in the community. By doing this you are doing networking in the market place and who knows when you need help it is there for your asking. Always remember the more you give the more you will receive in return.

7. Develop people skills: As you climb up the corporate ladder learn to get things done through others. Treat the staff fairly. Appreciate the work that they do. Create an environment to boost morale and productivity.

8. Stress and time management: Learn the skills to cope with stress which is inevitable at the workplace. Able to organize your time well is a major factor to reduce your stress. Develop a habit of writing a daily to-do list. As the saying goes: Plan your work and work your plan. When you manage your time well you move from task to task smoothly without stress.

Wish you lasting success in your career.

Creative Cooperation - The story

Creative Cooperation

Once upon a time, there were two hungry men. They were lucky to receive two items from a wise old man: one basket full of fresh fish and a fishing rod. One of them took the basket of fish while the other took the fishing rod. After that, they all went their own way. The one with the fish put up a fire and cook the fish on the spot and ate all of them. After a few days, the man died near his empty basket. The other man while enduring hunger walked all the way to the sea. In the end, he was exhausted and died on the way.

There were another two hungry men. They also received two items from the wise old man: a fishing rod and a basket of fish. However, these two men did not go a separate way. They had agreed and decided to look for the sea together. They also agreed to eat only one fish a day. After a very long and tiring journey, they finally reached the seashore. So they started a new life as fishermen. After a few years, they built their own houses and had their own families and their own fishing boats. They lived happily ever after.

Unity is strength is the moral of this story. When you have a dollar and I have a dollar and we exchange the dollar we still have a dollar each. When I have an idea and you have an idea when we exchange the idea we have two ideas each. When we combine the two ideas together the potential is limitless. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Mental Attitude to Bring You happiness – 7 Tips

Positive Mental Attitude

These are the 7 rules to bring you happiness as set out by Dale Carnegie, a bestselling author, in his book, How to stop worrying and start living

 1. Let’s fill our minds with thoughts of peace, courage, health, and hope for “our life is what our thoughts make it.”

2. Let’s not try to get even with our enemies, because if we do we will hurt ourselves far more than we hurt them.

3. Instead of worrying about ingratitude, let’s expect it. Let’s remember that the only way to find happiness is not to expect gratitude – but to give for the joy of giving. Let's remember that gratitude is a “cultivated” trait: so if we want our children to be grateful we must train them to be grateful.

4. Count your blessings – not your troubles!

5. Let’s not imitate others. Let’s find ourselves and be ourselves, for “envy is ignorance” and “imitation is suicide.”

 6. When fate hands us a lemon, let’s try to make a lemonade

7. Let’s forget our own unhappiness – by trying to create a little happiness for others.” when you are good to others, you are best to yourself.” In the book, it has quoted the words of William Bolitho,” The most important thing in life is not to capitalize on your gains. Any fool can do that. The really important thing is to profit from our losses. That requires intelligence, and it makes the difference between a man of sense and a fool.

Getting Noticed on Google

Getting Noticed on Google
Getting Noticed on Google

This is the title of a book written by Ben Norman. As the name suggests it will make your website really successful by giving you invaluable tips to increase your website ranking on Goggle. This was the first blogging book that I bought. And it is the only blogging book that I have.

.

As an introduction to the book, there is a chapter asking ”Why Is Google so important?” According to the book, the reason is very simple: more people use Google than any other search engine.

One of the chapters is devoted to free essential tools and services such as Google toolbar, Google account, Google sitemaps, and Google Analytics.

There is another important section focus on keywords, choosing keywords, and find your niche.

There is also a chapter on setting up your website and another chapter on designing your website for Google and another chapter on optimizing your website.

There is one important chapter talking about submitting and linking your website to Google so that Google knows that you are there.

In order to get traffic to your site, there is one chapter highlighting the importance of links and how to get them the right way.

The book also tells you to monitor your results using Google Analytics. Google AdWords is also a subject in the book.

This book is very helpful and informative. It’s in full color and very well illustrated.

Does Google notice my blog? Yes, it does because I can find my articles on the front pages. However, there is insufficient traffic to my blog. There are two things for me to do. One is to write more unique and original articles and two is to send my articles to social bookmarking sites and article directories to build up traffic to my site.

Kitchen – More Feng Shui Tips

Feng Shui and Your Kitchen

According to Feng Shui the location of the main door, the master bedroom, and the kitchen decide the luck of a house. So, it is important to make sure that the kitchen is Feng Shui friendly, Moreover, the food prepared by the housewife in the kitchen is for the maintenance of a family’s health and nutrition. There is a Chinese saying: bing cong kou ru (病从口入). It means sickness goes into the mouth. Follow the following guidelines for better Feng Shui in the kitchen:

 1. The bedroom should not be next to the kitchen. It is especially so when the bed and the stove are next to the same wall. The heat and the smoke generated by cooking in the kitchen are not good for health,

 2. The stove should not face a window so as to avoid the penetration of light. It is unlucky.

3. Avoid placing the stove above a drain that is running across. Water and fire do not mix.

 4. Avoid sharp corners facing the stove. For example, when a table is diagonally opposite the stove and the sharp corner of the table is facing the stove. It affects the health of the family members negatively.

 5. Avoid the wind. It is for this reason that your stove should not face a window. The wind could extinguish the fire and cause gas leakage. It’s dangerous.

6. The wall and the floor in the kitchen should be tiled. As Chinese cooking is oily so it is important to maintain the cleanness of the kitchen

7. Install a hood above the stove to suck up the smoke created by cooking. If you can’t you can install an exhaust fan instead.

8. Keep the kitchen tidy by having a built-in kitchen cabinet to store items.

9. When the stove is at a window on the west-facing the settling sun, it is unlucky and the health of the family is jeopardized.

Kitchen and Feng Shui -11 Important Tips

Kitchen and Feng Shui

Take note of the following things about the kitchen to promote good Feng Shui at home.

1. The front door and the kitchen door should not directly opposite each other. When it is in a straight line it will lead to financial problems or loss of fortune. To rectify the situation add a screen in between and add a curtain to the kitchen door.

2. The kitchen door should not face the bedroom directly. This will cause the person who is sleeping in this room to be unstable in his career or study.

Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not. The performance is not constant. If you really cannot do anything about it then put a curtain on each door to improve the situation.

3. There are some houses where the main door, the kitchen door, and the back door are all in one straight line. When you can go through all the way, you will not be able to keep your wealth. One solution is to seal the back door.

4. The kitchen can be next to the toilet but they should not face each other directly.

5. Keep the kitchen dry and airy. Don’t make the place wet but keep it bright.

Preferably the kitchen floor should be lower than your living room and bedrooms.

6. The stove and the wall should be back-to-back, do not leave any space.

7. When you stand outside and facing the kitchen door you must not see the stove directly,

8. There should not be a beam above the stove. If you can’t move the stove renovate the ceiling so that it is flat.

9. The stove should not be side by side with the sink. You can segregate the two by making a preparation area in between.

10. The kitchen should not be in the central position of the house. It is very ominous

11. In the kitchen do not reprimand the children, quarrel, gossip, complain….

All these will affect the luck of the family negatively.

Baby Boy or Baby Girl – Let Feng Shui Help You

Do you know that the way you position your bedroom and the placement of your furniture can influence the sex of your baby? According to a Feng Shui master, 懐阳明 (Huai Yang Ming), from Taiwan, mentions in his book, How to choose a good Feng Shui Home, that you can arrange your room to induce favorably the sex of your baby.

Baby Boy When you want to have a baby boy the position of the room is very important. And the best position is north and east. First and foremost your bedroom should be on the north side. At the same time, you should pay attention to the decoration of your room on the east side. The ideal material for your floor is wood. The wall and ceiling should be in a light color with the exception of your curtain. It can have its own color scheme. You can put the bed, TV or hi-fi at the north, north-east or east; you can also hang a lively picture or poster of a boy in these directions. When the bed is on the east side your pillows should be on the east as well. By doing this a flow of male (阳yang) energy is created. A table lamp is to put on the bedhead, and the lampshade should be made of cloth, your dressing table should be on the south. To decorate the room you should place a plant that bears yellow fruit or light color flowers.

Baby Girl When you want to have a baby girl you should do the opposite. The position of your bedroom should be on the west, south-west, south or south-east. The decoration for the room should focus on these directions as well. The color of your room should be a light coffee color in order to create a soft and tender atmosphere. You can hang the curtain with a floral pattern but make sure that is the same color scheme as the wall. The pillows should be on the south and your husband's clothing should put on the wall on the west, while yours should be on the east side. You can put a pot of pomegranate tree and pink flowers near the entrance to your room. The arrangement creates a flow of female (阴yin) energy in the room. Wish you good luck in the choice of your baby's sex. Please share your good news and happiness here.

Getting Backlinks For Your Blog

Backlinks

A backlink or inward link is a link from another website or blog linking to your blog or site. When someone clicks on that link he will be directed to your site. I have learnt from blogging that getting backlinks is one of the ways to boost PageRank.

A backlink is a good link when

 • The backlink is from a site that is talking about a similar subject to yours
 • The site has a better PageRank and Traffic Rank
 • It has great content and is relevant to your blog

You can take the following steps to get quality backlinks:

When you come across a suitable site, try and find out whether it is possible to get a reciprocal link. If you can see a list of linkable sites under such headings as “friends” or “related blogs” you know you can get a backlink. You will then set up a backlink on your blog for the site that you are interested in. There are two things you can do next. You can send an email commenting about the other site and also about exchanging ideas since you share a common interest.

The other thing that you can do is to write an article to highlight the other site. You will then send an email to notify the owner of the site to check out your story. At the same time, in the email, you will also request a backlink. The most important thing to do is that you have to make the first move by offering the other site a backlink to show your sincerity. The next thing is that you should ask for a backlink and not a demand for it. The fact that you have sent an email and posted an article about the other site shows that you have a genuine interest to enter into a relationship.

 Happy blogging and linking!

BlogPulse

BlogPulse is really a great and impressive site. When you log in you are able to get a host of information about your site.

There is another page with the heading of Citations. It is a listing of blogs mentioning your blog. Actually, these are your backlinks. By clicking on these links they go directly to your blog. Again the conversation on each blog is tracked, if any.

Yet on another page under Trends, you are able to see two graphs about your posting trend and citation trend over the last 30 days

On another page under Sources, news sources, and blogs that you have mentioned in your posts are cited and listed here. They are like outward links.

The last page under BlogPulse profiles is Neighborhood. Here is a listing of other blogs similar to yours.

Mental Attitude at Work

How to keep a positive mental attitude at work

“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”
Dale Carnegie

Do you find your work full of fun? Of course, it is not. The fun is in the mind of the person who is working.

I asked one taxi driver,” How do you find your work?” He replied “It’s bad. I have to work longer hours. I have fewer customers. The rising cost of living is really killing me. I am always working under pressure because of the traffic jam.”

I asked another taxi driver with the same question. He is driving during rush hour and is whistling away. He seems to be happy. He replied,” Yes, I have to work longer hours because I have children at home to support. But I look at my work this way. Let’s say you are going to the beach to watch the sunset, and when I send you there I also take the opportunity to admire the setting sun. It has already been paid by my customer, why don’t I take the opportunity to enjoy myself as well?”

According to psychologists when you are happy at work you have better concentration and you are more creative. The ability to solve problems is greatly increased. The person is also able to adjust himself to setbacks. So, when work is filled with fun your efficiency also increases tremendously. When you work for fun and not for the money you will find that you are trying to make your work interesting. And the more you work the more fun it is. When you perform well at work, naturally your earnings also increase.

On the other hand, when your focus is on the money you will find that your work is boring and you will find yourself under pressure when the economy is not doing well.

Happiness is a habit from within. There is no way to happiness and happiness is the way. Cultivate the happiness habit to have fun at work.

Joy of Jogging

Jogging

I jog two to three times a week in the evening and I find that the benefits of jogging are more than physical health.

First of all, jogging is the right kind of physical activity for office workers. In the office, we use our brains most of the time. At the end of the day, our mind is exhausted. The best solution is to do some kind of physical exercise to counter the negative effect of mental exhaustion. Jogging is one of them. At the end of a jog, my mind is relaxed and I get some kind of high as well. There is no more fatigue of the mind but just a feeling that my mind is ”loose”( 松song)

The process of sweating after a jog is a good way to get rid of toxins from my body and I am able also to rejuvenate my skin by sending more oxygen into my system.

The other advantage is that when I am jogging along the way I take the opportunity to appreciate nature. I look at the green trees and the colorful flowers and I can also listen to the birds chirping cheerfully. In the field, I can see the children playing happily. Sometimes I am able to bathe myself in the setting sun and to receive a few doses of vitamin D. For a while I am back to nature.

I also use the time when I am jogging to reflect on the kind of day I have had. When things go well I am pleased and when it is not I will see what I can do to make tomorrow a better day.

I will also use the time to do a little forethought of the things that I am about to do tomorrow before I put them on my to-do list.

The best thing in life after a jog is that I don’t feel tired at all. I don't realize that I have just come back from a jog. All I have is a wonderful feeling of well-being and happiness.
