7 Reasons Why Writing is important to Me

7 Reasons Why Writing is important to Me

Easy reading is damn hard writing.
~Nathaniel Hawthorne

As a blogger and article writer, I write an article for my readers every day, but I want to learn more and write better to communicate with my readers. I am interested in taking up the Damn Fine Words writing course and learn to write more effectively for my readers. Here are 7 reasons why better writing is good for me and my readers:

1.    Write and engage the readers: I would like to learn and write in a more interesting way so that it is worth the time of the readers to read my posts. Writing awesome headlines and providing great content is crucial in writing. Write in an organized way so that readers can read easily and quickly.

2.       Write and solicit ideas from readers: I want to motivate readers to share their ideas by commenting on my posts.  Comments are few and far in between now. The conversation is a great way to grow readership. Write and touch on the emotions of readers.

3.       Write and educate: The ability to explain a complex subject is essential to effective writing.  Providing pertinent information, knowledge, and insights logically to enlighten my readers is the main purpose of writing.

4.       Write and entertain: I will certainly be able to improve my writing if I can write amusingly and lively and at the same time teach my readers.

5.        Value for the readers: I want to present ideas in a unique way and solve the problems of my readers so that they will come back for more.  The key is to write in my own style clearly and naturally for the readers and not search engines. It is also important to know precisely what my readers want and write accordingly. Quality articles are a good way to attract inbound links to my blog.

6.       Express effectively: Learn all about grammar and use the right word at the right place. Write and convince the readers to accept my ideas and take action.

7.       Learn new writing skills and techniques: Adopt the right steps to write an article and discover more ways to write better and be more effective in writing creatively and powerfully.

The Damn Fine Words is a writing course produced by James Chartrand, owner of Men with Pens, one of the Top 10 Blogs for Writers. I will be able to learn from one of the top writers and improve my writing and provide more reading pleasure for my readers.  When I am able to write in an influential way, my blog will be able to attract more readers and I will be able to build my reputation and authority. I will also be more prepared to secure business opportunities.

Write to be Happy

Write to be Happy

According to an article, The Ten Happiest Jobs, authors are among the happiest people. I can understand why because I am a writer and a blogger:

1.       You are the boss: You only work for yourself. There is no time card to punch. There is no need to apply for leave. When you feel like it, you don’ work. Nobody is bothering you how you work when you work, where you work, or if you are working at all.

2.       You can write anything under the sun: Who cares what you write. You just write things that you are happy to write about. You enjoy the freedom of expression.

3.       You can write anytime anywhere: You can write every day or once a week. You only write when you feel like it. You can write continuously or taking breaks now and then. You can write at home,   at a library, or in a coffee shop when the mood strikes you.

4.       You are able to influence others: it is especially so when you write about personal improvement, success, inspiration, and motivation. You feel good about yourself when you can make changes in other people’s lives positively.

5.        You are motivated by your own writing: The more I write about positive things in life, the more I am inspired to follow my own teachings.  I am truly delighted because it is ingrained in my mind.

6.       You get paid for your writing: As a blogger, I get paid for what I like and enjoy doing. The best part is that I don’t have to ask for a job to get paid. I can earn from Adsense effortlessly from my blog.

7.       You build a personal brand for what you write: Your sustained effort in writing will pay off in the long run. Because of what you write, you gain trust and build authority for your work.

You don’t have to be an author to be happy. All you need to do is to write and express your feelings in a journal or diary every day. You must have heard of a gratitude journal. It figures why people are happy when they write. Do it tonight before you go to bed and have a sweet dream.

5 Reasons Why You Don’t Save

5 Reasons Why You Don’t Save

In the course of your life you may have delayed and postponed many opportunities to save until you regret it because it is too late to do so:

1.       Do not develop the habit to save when you are young: Perhaps your parents do not get you a piggy bank to start this thrifty habit. When you are much older your parents have forgotten to take you to a bank in town and open a savings account for you. Yet, it is the best time to develop a habit to save.

2.       Your first job: You are excited when getting yourself a job and you want to treat yourself with your money because you are capable of earning a living. You also want to have a car to drive around. You want to have fun. You think you can save later in life because you are still young. It is wise to set aside an amount every month after getting your first job and getting paid every month. Start small and the amount can be substantial over time because of compound interest.

3.       Building your Career: As you move on in life and get yourself established, you are thinking of buying your first house and getting married. The financial commitments deter you from the thought of saving money until later in life. It is never too late to save and the key is to get it started. When you decide not to save, there will be no money left over for a rainy day.

4.       When you are much older: As you grow older you are the husband and the father of two or three children, you are thinking of meeting the financial needs of your family and children’s education. It is still Ok to save at this stage because there is a constant source of income every month. If there is a will to save, there is a way.

5.       When you retire: If you are thinking of saving money, it is too late now because there is no more regular income to save even if you want to. You can only rely on your pension money which is too little to meet your normal requirements and not to mention unexpected medical expenses. When you are gainfully employed previously, you will be able to build an emergency fund and invest the extra to build a nest egg, life will not be gloom and doom when you are old.

Save now while you still can and change your life for the better.

7 Simple and Effective Ways to be Productive Daily

7 Simple and Effective Ways to be Productive Daily

These are very simple ideas, but are you doing it every day to boost your productivity?

1.       Plan ahead: An effective tool like a to-do list is an organized list of things to be done for the day. The fact is that if you do not write it down, your memory may fail you. I find that a to-do list has a positive psychological effect upon you as you cross out each completed task. Do it and you will feel good about yourself.

2.       Be an early riser: The only way to have more time and avoid rushing about and get yourself tensed up in the morning is to start a new day early. If you can get up at six instead of eight, you will be able to accomplish more worthwhile activities in your daily life.

3.       Morning rituals:  As an early riser you are in control of your time and life. The key is to psych yourself up and get inspired and motivated so that you start a new day with excitement, energy, and enthusiasm. Read motivational quotes, think of positive thoughts, and avoid reading newspapers to dampen and spoil your mood for the day.

4.       Do the most important things: As you have the to-do list ready and the first item on your list is your priority. Go ahead and get it done in the morning when your mind is fresh and calm. Getting an important task done gives you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. The rest of the day will be easy for you.

5.       Just do it: Have you had the habit of procrastinating? Do you get distracted easily? Can you be focused on the task at hand? Avoid thinking too much and just get it started and then followed by the next step.

6.       Learn: Productivity is not confined to getting things done. It is also about learning new things, new ways of doing things, and making changes to be more efficient and effective.

7.      Write and review:  It is a wise move to keep a journal or log. You will be able to find out how productive you are every day.  Ask yourself this question: What have I done today? Have I achieved the tasks that I have planned? The point is to seek improvement and be more productive.

To be productive is not to do more and become stressed.  The aim of productivity is to work smart so that you will have more time for yourself to be creative and happy.

7 Tips to Get Noticed on Social Media Positively

Are you able to provide access to your Facebook (Job seekers getting asked for Facebook passwords) account willingly when asked? As more and more recruiting officers are interested to peep into your private life to determine convincingly that you are suitable for employment, you have to be smart to protect your reputation and project your image online positively. Here are the effective ways to go about it:

1.       Keep your private life private: Do not post and show what you do privately, things that you do not want others to know including images. In this way you are free and without fear to show your Facebook account to others anytime.

2.       Post messages wisely to be viewed publicly: Be wise and do not disclose confidential information about your place of work. Do not show indecent images to avoid bad publicity about your character and reputation.

3.       Link to your blog where you showcase your work: Do you have a blog that provides useful information?  Every time you upload a new post, send a message to Facebook and other social networking sites to notify others to read your post.

4.       Share useful information: Share links to useful and valuable information that you have noticed on the Net. After all social media is to share and care.

5.        Avoid bad mouthing: Don’t talk bad about people you do not like, especially your immediate boss or your co-workers. It only tells others that you have a relationship problem with people and you do not know how to get along with others and you cannot manage your emotions.

6.       Inspire and motivate others: As an example, I share motivational quotes daily to uplift the mood of readers.  Make others happy and you too.

7.       Squeaky clean: The key is to show and tell positively about yourself in social circles. Every time when you want to post something ask yourself: How does it affect my career, image or reputation?

Do a house cleaning so that you can bare all.
