7 Tips to Get Noticed on Social Media Positively

7 Tips to Get Noticed on Social Media Positively

Are you able to provide access to your Facebook (Job seekers getting asked for Facebook passwords) account willingly when asked? As more and more recruiting officers are interested to peep into your private life to determine convincingly that you are suitable for employment, you have to be smart to protect your reputation and project your image online positively. Here are the effective ways to go about it:

1.       Keep your private life private: Do not post and show what you do privately, things that you do not want others to know including images. In this way you are free and without fear to show your Facebook account to others anytime.

2.       Post messages wisely to be viewed publicly: Be wise and do not disclose confidential information about your place of work. Do not show indecent images to avoid bad publicity about your character and reputation.

3.       Link to your blog where you showcase your work: Do you have a blog that provides useful information?  Every time you upload a new post, send a message to Facebook and other social networking sites to notify others to read your post.

4.       Share useful information: Share links to useful and valuable information that you have noticed on the Net. After all social media is to share and care.

5.        Avoid bad mouthing: Don’t talk bad about people you do not like, especially your immediate boss or your co-workers. It only tells others that you have a relationship problem with people and you do not know how to get along with others and you cannot manage your emotions.

6.       Inspire and motivate others: As an example, I share motivational quotes daily to uplift the mood of readers.  Make others happy and you too.

7.       Squeaky clean: The key is to show and tell positively about yourself in social circles. Every time when you want to post something ask yourself: How does it affect my career, image or reputation?

Do a house cleaning so that you can bare all.

Article Directories, Social Bookmarking & Networking Sites and Your Articles

Articles

To attract more readers reading your articles it is necessary to: Submit your articles to article directories Bookmark your articles at social bookmarking and networking sites.

Article Directories: To direct traffic to your site submit some of your original articles to the following article directories where their Traffic Rank are high: Ezinearticles (254) HubPages (595) ArticlesBase (1759) There is a resource box at the end of an article that you can include a link to your website. When readers are interested to read more of your articles they will click the link and go directly to your site. By adding a link to your blog you have actually created a one-way link to your website.

Social bookmarking and networking sites: Here are some of the social bookmarking sites that you should bookmark your articles: Technorati (457) Mixx. (673) Digg (284) You can even bookmark your articles at social networking sites such as: Facebook (5) Twitter (599) Bebo (97) MySpace (7) LinkedIn (192) Remember that there is link juice to your website for each and every article that you bookmark. By bookmarking your articles you are also updating your friends by telling them what you are doing now - writing and posting new articles.

Recommendation: Submitting articles to article directories should be done selectively. Choose your popular articles to entice readers to visit your site. Sending too many articles will defeat the purpose. When readers can read most of your articles in full somewhere else there is no incentive to visit your site anymore. On the other hand bookmarking, your articles at social bookmarking and networking sites should be done extensively if not all of your articles because at the social bookmarking and networking sites there are only links or snippets of your actual articles. When readers are attracted to read your full articles they will have to go directly to your site. A catchy title, with the right keywords plus matching and unique content, will make readers want to visit your site to read your compelling articles.

Google's Orkut - A Social Networking Site

Orkut

Orkut was voted one of the best social networking sites by PC.com (a magazine published in Malaysia) with a score of 8/10 in their April 08 issue. Joining Orkut is easy. You can sign up and log in using your Gmail e-mail address the same way you access your Blogger account. One of its features is that you can post short comments along with photos and videos in your Scrapbook. The other cool thing is that you can add your favorite applications such as Chat Rooms, IQ Test, and carrom. It has over 600 applications from its Application Directory. I have just added Mr. Bean to my home page (watch video on YouTube). However, it is reported that 60% of the users are between the age group of 18 to 25, and 60% of them are looking for friendship. It is also highlighted that Orkut is very popular in Brazil, India, and the United States. It looks like there are not many senior citizens using this platform. Anyway, I have joined and I will look for people sharing the same interest as mine. Here are the other social networking sites voted by PC.com: Facebook: 9/10 Myspace.com: 8/10 Hi5: 7/10 Bebo 7/10 Friendster 6/10
