15 Tips to Manage Stress

Stress

“Doing something that is productive is a great way to alleviate emotional stress. Get your mind doing something that is productive.”Ziggy Marley

Here are the top tips to manage and release stress:

  1. Your Job: Find meaning in your work. Your job should be your passion and interest. What you do is useful to others and you get satisfaction out of it.

  1. Face the world as it is: Do not be unduly disturbed by what is happening to you. React calmly to negative encounters in life.

  1. Hopeful: Look forward to the future with high hope and expectations. Great hope provides energy for you to carry on living every day.

  1. Appreciate yourself: Forget about what you have lost or what you don’t have. Instead, enjoy what you have now.

  1. The way to look at failures: Failures are your stepping stone to success. With each failure, there is a lesson learnt and a step closer to success. Look at failures positively.

  1. Be healthy and fit: A healthy body and a healthy mind is the best way to manage stress effectively.

  1. Do your best: Do not look for perfection in whatever you do. Just do it and do your best.

  1. Turn a crisis into an opportunity: Every cloud has a silver lining. Be positive and look for opportunities in adversity.

  1. Emotions: Be alert to your own emotions and act accordingly. When you are not in a positive mood don’t take action. Do it when you feel at ease.

  1. Exercise: Regular exercise is one of the effective ways to release stress.

  1. Self-Management: Self-management is time management. Plan your work and work you plan to allow you to do your tasks smoothly and thereby avoid stress,

  1. Resilient and bounce-back ability: Promote your ability to face setbacks squarely and positively. The idea is not to allow failures to hinder your progress in life.

  1. Review your goals: Perhaps you have set too high a goal that it is beyond your reach. Revise your goals to a level that is achievable and life will not be so stressful.

  1. Mindfulness: When you concentrate fully on the task at hand you forget about thoughts that are stressful.

  1. Ways to relax: Choose and incorporate one or more methods to relax: meditation, yoga. Tai Chi, music, gardening, video games, deep breathing, autosuggestion…

I find that the best way to release stress and relax is to be in tune with nature. Be at a quiet place outside and for a moment think of nothing but to commune with nature. Do it daily and the best time to do it is early morning. You can experience your alignment with nature by doing Tai Chi. The outcome is a relaxed, peaceful, and calm mind.

We are now in the holy month of Ramadhan and Muslims all over the world, including Malaysia, break their fast with dates (kurma). Dates are considered to be blessed fruits, especially when consumed during the holy month of Ramadhan. Dates provide energy, nutrients, and fiber. The date is referred to as the crown of sweets. Dates are considered a complete diet and a very important source of food. One date is a minimum of a balanced and healthy diet. They are sweet and nutritious. They are rich in manganese and calcium which helps strengthen the bones. It is also a good source of vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate, and iron. Dates have 25 percent more potassium than bananas

 Some health benefits of dates:

 • It is beneficial for the health of our eyes.
• Modern medicine has shown that they are effective in preventing abdominal cancer.
 • Dates are laxative food. There are good for those suffering from constipation
• Dates are an effective remedy for weak hearts.
 • Dates are known to contain some stimulants that strengthen the muscles of the uterus in the last months of pregnancy. These stimulants help to dilate the uterus at the time of delivery and reduce bleeding.

Chinese believe that dates are the best food for women in confinement. Recently I was happy to receive a box of dates of Tunisia origin from my Muslim boss. It’s yummy as a snack food.

Digestive System

Resentment and anger are bad for your blood pressure and your digestion.

A healthy body needs to be nourished by nutrients. A healthy digestive system will digest and absorb nutrients effectively. How do you take care of your digestive system? Here are the top tips:

1. Have each meal at the same time: Have each meal more or less at a fixed time; your digestive system will follow the timing to receive food and burn up calories. Do not eat more than enough and do not get yourself under hunger pangs.

2. Chew your food: Sit down and eat slowly to chew each mouthful. It is to assist digestion and absorption of the food.

3. Avoid spicy food: Eating too much sour and spicy food will hurt your digestive system. Avoid taking food that is too hot

4. Hygiene: Make sure that the food is clean so as to avoid food poisoning. Check and avoid consumption of expired items.

5. Oily food: Too much fried food will slow down the digestive process.

6. A healthy eating habit: Eat less sugar, salt. Eat sufficient protein and high fiber. Consume a lot of fruits and vegetables.

10. Manage your emotions: Your negative emotions such as stress will cause you to overeat or eat less. Learn to relax.

11. Exercise: Regular physical activities will enhance the working mechanism of the digestive system.

12. Eat less but more frequently: When you distribute your food consumption evenly, your body gets a boost of energy every two to three hours. You are actually training your body to burn up calories at regular intervals all day long. In this way, you stay healthy and slim even though you are eating all the time

4 Types of Mentality

4 Types of Mentality

People with a scarcity mentality tend to see everything in terms of win-lose. There is only so much; and if someone else has it, that means there will be less for me. The more principle-centered we become, the more we develop an abundance mentality, the more we are genuinely happy for the successes, well-being, achievements, recognition, and good fortune of other people. We believe their success adds to...rather than detracts from...our lives.

Stephen Covey
There are 4 types of mentality.

1. You are fine and I am too: This group of people is courageous to affirm the strengths of others and themselves. They are happy and willing to corporate with others to take advantage of each other‘s strengths for mutual benefits.

2. I am fine and you are not: This type of person is very proud of themselves and they look down on others. They lack humanity and respect for others. When they face setbacks they will blame others. They despise others and others do not like them too. Their heart is filled with hatred and anger and they are very unhappy in life.

3. You are fine and I am not: The people of this group have very low self-esteem. They always think that they are no better than others. They are never able to discover their good points so they feel that life is meaningless and they don’t feel like living. Life for them is miserable.

4. You are not fine and I am not too: For them, there are no good people in this world. Life is no fun and there is no hope in life. They live in total misery.

You know by now which type is healthy and acceptable. Live life with the right mentality for growth and success.

5 Tips to Recover from Setbacks in Life

Setback
"How many people are completely successful in every department of life? Not one. The most successful people are the ones who learn from their mistakes and turn their failures into opportunities." Zig Ziglar

You may not get what you want in life or you may have lost what you have. You may face obstacles hindering you from reaching your objectives or you are unable to achieve your goals in life. How do you deal with these situations? Here are the 5 tips:

 1. Look at setbacks and failures positively: When you don’t take action you don’t stand a chance to succeed. When you do it, you may fail. Failures are valuable lessons to be learnt so that we are closer to success by avoiding the same mistakes.

 2. Review the situation: Analyze and identify the reasons for the failures and make adjustments. When you are able to spot the failing you will be more likely to succeed the next time.

 3. Modify your goals: The reason why you are unable to attain your objective is that you may have set your goals too high. Revise your goals so that they are achievable and once you have achieved your goals, then you set a higher goal. In this way, you build up your confidence and enthusiasm.

 4. Wrong tactics: You may have done it the wrong way. Try a different approach but focus on your goals.

5. Be resilient: Do not be discouraged by failures and setbacks. Bounce back from each setback to build up your resiliency. A journey in life is not smooth sailing, encountering failures and setbacks are inevitable. Instead of getting away from it, deal with it, and learn from the mistakes. It helps to build your confidence and move forward courageously.

10 Danger Signs in Your Marriage

The Danger of Marriage

It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages. – Friedrich Nietzsche

Your marriage is a time bomb. It is ticking away. Identify the following explosive signs and defuse them as soon as possible:

  1. Rumors: There is no doubt that you trust each other, but in a marriage, it is necessary to clarify the situation as soon as possible whenever a rumor surfaces. When you think it is a small matter and let it simmer, you allow the time bomb to activate.

  1. A boring life: It is essential to bring excitement into the marriage. Once in a while have fun together to get away from the daily monotonous life. Living every day the same way will allow attraction beyond your marriage to interfere with your peaceful life. Have enjoyment and laughter every now and then to brighten your marriage.

  1. Serious illnesses: Look after your health well. You cannot guarantee your partner to stay with you and look after you when you are seriously ill for a prolonged period.

  1. Bad habits: Your bad habits can be detrimental to your marriage. When you indulge in such bad habits like gambling and womanizing, your marriage will end sooner or later.

  1. Different thinking: Before you got married you treated the differences in character, cultural and educational backgrounds as small issues. Now that you are living together the differences in looking at things are glaring and irritating to such an extent that it is unbearable.

  1. Poverty: How long do you think your partner can withstand and endure the suffering with you when you cannot lead a normal life because of financial difficulties? Very soon your spouse will file for a divorce.

  1. Your physical appearance: Do you look after yourself to stay attractive or you allow your body to develop in the wrong place after marriage? Get your partner interested in you and not a third party.

  1. Children: Children may not be a problem in a normal marriage. However, when a marriage does not work out the custody of the children is a major issue and a bitter tussle.

  1. Work: Your job can interfere with your marriage, especially when you are a workaholic. You take your partner for granted and ignore her.

  1. Living separately: He may get a promotion and a transfer out of town. How sure for both of you that you can discipline yourselves not to involve in an affair after living separately for a long period of time?

No experts can disconnect the ticking time bomb. You have to help yourself to extinguish the fuse.

H1N1, Obesity and Weight Management

Weight Management
Obesity

“It’s not just about losing the weight; it’s about losing the lifestyle and mindset that got you there.” – Steve Maraboli

H1N1

According to the latest report in the newspaper, the death toll from influenza A H1N1 is 67 as of August 18, 2009. The Health Ministry of Malaysia is concerned that the obese may be in the high-risk category.

Obesity

In a 2006 national survey showed that 43 percent of Malaysians were overweight or obese – excess body weight in the form of fat – with the number growing rapidly because of the increasingly sedentary lifestyle.

“The obese may find themselves in the high-risk group for all viruses, including H1N1. Obesity is also the road to diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses which reduces immunity,” Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said when opening the Malaysian Association for the Study of Obesity Scientific Conference on August 13, 2009. MASO advocates a healthy lifestyle as part of a comprehensive approach to weight management programs.

Weight Management

There are two approaches to control your weight. One is to exercise and the other is to eat the right way.

Exercise: While aerobic exercise such as jogging, walking, or swimming can boost your metabolism and weight loss, you need to do resistance training in the gym or at home to increase muscle strength and density, which in turn allows you to burn more calories faster. To see results you need to do at least three to four sessions a week.

Eating: Eating less but more frequently at a fixed time for each meal is the right way to have your meals. When you are eating at a regular interval you are training your body to expect food and burn calories every three to four hours. You boost your metabolism this way and you don’t gain weight. When you are eating irregularly or eat at a longer interval, your body does not know when to expect food and your metabolism drops to conserve energy. Your body responds to what it thinks is a period of malnutrition. Now you know why some people keep eating all day long but never gain weight.

Change your sedentary lifestyle and change your health for the better. Change your eating habits and change yourself to a slimmer body.

Hopefulness –The Most Powerful Positive Emotion

Hope

Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.

Christopher Reeve

Hopelessness

When you think life is hopeless, then there is nothing to look forward to in life. There is no incentive to carry on living. There is no energy and no interest in your daily life. According to Martin Luther King, Jr.,” If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream.”

Hopefulness

On the other hand, when you are hopeful, you have high expectations in life. Every day your life is filled with zest. You look forward to each new day with tremendous energy. Hopefulness means life is meaningful and worthwhile.

Hopefulness is one of these things in life and more:

  • To be graduated with flying colors
  • A rewarding career upon graduation
  • A happy marriage
  • A happy and healthy child
  • A child grows up to be successful in life
  • A carefree retirement

What are the things that spur you to look forward to each new day with high hope?

As for me, I look forward to each new day with great excitement. The thing that sparks me is blogging. I look forward to having more readers reading my articles and receive more earnings from AdSense and these can only be achieved by writing more articles that the readers are interested to read.

I know every one of us has something to look forward to in life because of our hope. Hope is the only thing that keeps us going on in life. Dale Carnegie says,’ Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.”

Do not give up hope. Let hopefulness fills your life.

Getting Creative – 7 Tips

Be Creative

Creativity is obscured by the conscious mind.

Naval Ravikant

Creativity needs to be nurtured in a conducive environment. Here are the conditions that stimulate the flow of creative juice:

1. Positive emotions and mental attitude: Be happy and be self-assured. A positive mindset promotes imagination and creativity.

2. Self-confidence: People with creativity are those who firmly believe in their capabilities to get things done.

3. Accept criticism: Most creative people welcome constructive criticism. They will learn from the comments of others to make progress and improvement.

4. About success: Success is not wealth, power, reputation, or attachment to material things. It is the satisfaction of a job well done. When you do what is important and useful to others and you are happy about it, you have achieved success. Creativity is one such thing that gives you a sense of success.

5. Allocate time to be creative: When you are too busy and working under stress there is no time to do creative thinking. Find a quiet place and a time just for you to promote creativity.

6. Remove obstacles: Some of the things that hinder creativity are living in the same environment, taking no initiative to do things, thinking of the past, and doing things the same old way. You are also a loner, stubborn, without foresight. You don’t do enough research and hesitate to take action.

7. Creativity is hard work: You can’t be creative with nothing to work on. You need to have knowledge of the subject and you also need to talk to people who know the subject well. With the knowledge you have gained and mix with your imagination, you create.

According to Franklin D. Roosevelt,” Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.”

Copygator

Copygator
About Copygator

This is a very useful and cool site. It notifies you when your content is duplicated. The Copygator service aggregates data from over two million blog feeds, and parses over a half million new blog posts a day. Their servers then crunch all of this date and evaluate every post against each other to determine if any two are roughly, nearly, or exactly alike. They are able to show you exactly where your content is being duplicated, quoted or plagiarized. Best of all, this is done automatically and free of charge.

How does it work?

In order to make it work for your blog, there are two options. One of them is to provide a valid RSS FEED and Copygator will do the rest. The other option is more interesting. You simply copy and paste a badge onto your blog and Copygator will find feeds on your side and watch your content automatically. Just watch for the badge to change to red if it detects your content has been duplicated elsewhere in the blogosphere.

How do they notify you when they find duplicated content?

They will notify you by e-mail, RSS or you can just watch the badge at your site to change to red. You can also use the “Who’s using your feed content” search bar at the top of their website.

Install the badge on your site and watch it change to red to identify the copycat.
