The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

According to The Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, ‘spirit’ means part of a person that includes their mind, feelings, and character rather than their body. How do you achieve spiritual success?

Deepak Chopra mentions the following seven laws in his famous book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success:

  1. The law of pure potentiality: One way to enjoy the benefits of pure potentiality is through the daily practice of silence, meditation, and non-judgment. A fourth component is to spend time in nature. It enables you to sense the harmonious interaction of all the elements and forces of life and gives you a sense of unity with all of life.

  1. The law of giving: It is stated that as long as you‘re giving, you will be receiving. The more you give, the more confidence you will gain in the miraculous effects of this law. And as you receive more, your ability to give more will also increase

  1. The law of ‘karma’ or cause and effect: Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind… what we sow are what we reap. And when we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success.

  1. The law of least effort: Nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease…with carefreeness, harmony, and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease. When you have the exquisite combination of acceptance, responsibility, and defenselessness, you will experience life flowing with effortless ease. The least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love.

  1. The law of intention and desire: Intention lays the groundwork for the effortless, spontaneous, frictionless flow of pure potentiality seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest. The only caution is that you use your intent for the benefit of mankind. This happens spontaneously when you are in alignment with the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.

  1. The law of detachment: Attachment comes from poverty consciousness because attachment is always to symbols (cars, houses, banknotes, clothes, airplanes). Detachment is synonymous with wealth consciousness because with detachment there is the freedom to create. Only from detached involvement can one have joy and laughter.

  1. The law of “Dharma” or purpose in life: Everyone has a purpose in life… a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with services to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals

What I have learnt from this book:

  • Harness the power of your interest and passion for the benefits of others. (Law No.7)
  • Do not attach to material things. When you are born you don’t bring them along. And when you die you can’t take them along with you. (Law No.6)
  • Kindness begets kindness. (Law No 2)
  • Our actions, good or bad, will generate in return the same effects. (Law No. 3)
  • To live harmoniously with nature, capture the forces of the environment to your advantage. Feng Shui harnesses the positive power of the natural landscape and avoids hostile situations. (Law No. 1)
  • Tai Chi is a form of meditation in motion. When you are doing the very slow and graceful movements you are in tune with nature. You think of nothing else but just concentrate on the movements. According to Deepak Chopra, the combination of movement and stillness enables you to unleash your creativity in all directions – wherever the power of your attention takes you. No wonder I get a lot of creative ideas for my article writing when I am doing Tai Chi in the morning. (Law No. 1)
  • When your motives to do a thing are right, you don’t have to struggle to do it. You just do it effortlessly. (Law No. 4 and 5)
