Creative Cooperation - The story

Creative Cooperation

Once upon a time, there were two hungry men. They were lucky to receive two items from a wise old man: one basket full of fresh fish and a fishing rod. One of them took the basket of fish while the other took the fishing rod. After that, they all went their own way. The one with the fish put up a fire and cook the fish on the spot and ate all of them. After a few days, the man died near his empty basket. The other man while enduring hunger walked all the way to the sea. In the end, he was exhausted and died on the way.

There were another two hungry men. They also received two items from the wise old man: a fishing rod and a basket of fish. However, these two men did not go a separate way. They had agreed and decided to look for the sea together. They also agreed to eat only one fish a day. After a very long and tiring journey, they finally reached the seashore. So they started a new life as fishermen. After a few years, they built their own houses and had their own families and their own fishing boats. They lived happily ever after.

Unity is strength is the moral of this story. When you have a dollar and I have a dollar and we exchange the dollar we still have a dollar each. When I have an idea and you have an idea when we exchange the idea we have two ideas each. When we combine the two ideas together the potential is limitless. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Love Story: True Love Means Lasting Happiness

Old Couple

There was an old man waiting for his turn to collect his medicine at the dispensary in a hospital. He was rather impatient and kept looking at his watch. A nurse noticed it and came over to chat with him.

The nurse asked,” Why are you in such a hurry?”
The old man said,” Yes, I have an appointment at 9.00 a.m.”
The nurse was curious because he didn't have to go to work,” Why is it necessary to be on time?”
The old man replied,” Yes, I am on my way to the nursing home to have breakfast with my wife.”
The nurse was even more curious and asked,” To the nursing home? There’s no need to be in a hurry.”
The old man said,” Nothing much really, she’s been suffering from Parkinson's disease. It has been quite a while.”
Then the nurse looked at the time,” It’s almost time. You will be late. Doesn’t your wife worry about you?”
The old man said,” Not at all, she has not been able to recognize me for the last five years. Even if I don’t’ go, she won’t know.”
The nurse was surprised and she asked,” Oh! Don’t recognize you for five years and yet you visit her every morning?”
The old man smiled and said,” She can’t recognize me, but I can recognize her, that's good enough.”
As the old man walked away to collect his medicine, teardrops came down from the nurse’s eyes. She was telling herself,” This is the kind of love that I want.”

True love is not being romantic. True love means accepting; accepting the past, accepting the present, and accepting the future of the other person.

Happiness is not necessary to have the best. A happy person finds happiness in making the best of what he has.

What would you do?

What would you do?

One night, it was raining cats and dogs and you were driving past a bus stop. They were three people there waiting anxiously for a bus. One of them was a dying old man. He needed to go to the hospital immediately. The other one was a doctor who had saved your life before and you were trying very hard to repay your gratitude. The last person was your dream girl. The girl that you wanted fervently to marry. However, you could only carry one person. What would you do?

The old man was dying you needed to save him first. You also wanted the doctor to get in your car because he saved your life. And if you didn’t let your dream girl into your car you would regret your whole life.

This question was posed among 200 candidates for a job interview. Only one of them was hired. This was what the successful candidate said,” I’ll give the car key to the doctor so he can carry the gravely ill old man to the hospital and I can accompany my dream girl to wait for the bus.” The moral of the story is that if you are willing to forgo what you have, perhaps you will get even more in return.

The Boy with the Empty Flower Pot

Empty Flower Pot
Once upon a time, there was a king who lived in a kingdom far far away. He governed the kingdom well and the people loved him. However, the king was very sad because he did not have children of his own. One day he decided to adopt a son by selecting one child among his subjects to be groomed as his successor.

So the king gave seeds to all the children in his kingdom and asked them to grow flowers. The child with the most beautiful flowers would be his adopted son. So the children took care of their seeds by watering and fertilizing them. They all hoped to be the king’s adopted son.

There was a child by the name of Hau Hau who was also busy looking after his seed. Sadly, nothing seemed to grow, not even the bud. He was very upset because the deadline had approached to send the flowers to the king.

On the big day, all the children dressed in their best and went to see the king with their beautiful flowers. However, the king wasn’t happy at all. Suddenly he noticed Hau Hau standing among the children. He was listless with tears in his eyes. The king asked him, “Why are you carrying an empty flower pot?” Hau Hau explained that he tried very hard but nothing seemed to grow. Perhaps it was his punishment because he had stolen a bunch of grapes from someone‘s garden. Then the king laughed heartily and said loudly,” My boy, you are the child I am looking for!” “Why is it so?’ They all asked the king. The king replied,” I have cooked the seeds so you can’t grow anything out of them.” All the children with flowers in their pots looked down. They had used other seeds instead.

The moral of the story is that honesty is the best policy. It is one of the virtues of a good worker as mentioned in my article Characteristics of a Good Worker.
