According to the directions on the label, Vicks VapoRub is used for temporary symptomatic relief from the clogged nose and coughs due to colds and minor aches and pains. For relief, massage Vicks VapoRub on the throat, chest, and back.
However, the directions do not tell you to apply it on the soles of your feet for the effective relief of nighttime cough. An E-mail has been circulating around for quite a while. It is good for children as well as adults. In fact, it is rated 4 stars out of a maximum of 5 as a form of home remedy in the book “Best Choices from the People’s Pharmacy” by Joe Graedon, MS, and Teresa Graedon, Ph.D. After applying it, don’t forget to put on your socks to protect the bed sheets
Some of the other unique uses as mentioned in the book are:
• Ant repellent
• Dandruff
• Fire and bites
• Kitten scratches
• Leg cramps
• Mosquito bites
I have a bottle ready in my bedroom just in case the need arises.
