Do you envy when you see other children are well-behaved and are very polite?
Here are 10 tips that you can start implementing right away so that your child is likable:
- When your child comes home: Teach him to tell those in the house especially his parents that he is back. When he goes out your child must tell those at home that he is going out.
- Greetings: When your child can speak, teach him such phrases like: “How are you?” “Thank you” “Yes, please”.
- Respect the old folks at home: Tell your child to respect elderly people at home by setting good example yourself for your child to follow.
- Polite behavior: Teach your child to look at the person in the eyes when someone is talking to him. Do not raise his voice when he is talking to an adult. Do not interrupt when the adults are talking.
- Entertaining guests at home: It is a good opportunity to show your child the right ways to treat the guests in the house. Upon arrival of the guest teach the child to smile and greet the guests. Teach him to offer food and drink to the guests. When there are young children your child should share his toys and have fun with them.
- Smile: Teach your child to smile at others. It is an international language for friendliness.
- Always say “Hi”: Teach your child to say hello to his teachers, relatives and friends.
- Socializing with other children: Allow your child to mix freely with other children. This is a good way for him to learn by himself to get along with others.
- Visiting: This is another good opportunity to show your child the correct way to greet the people that you are visiting. Teach him the appropriate greetings during festive seasons.
- Table manners: Tell your child to wash his hands before eating. Teach him the correct behavior while dining with adults.
You child is also leaning from you. He will follow the way you talk to your neighbors and the way you treat people. When you treat people politely he will in turn treat you and others just as polite.
