You can be creative. Creativity is not confined to those who are good in design and art.
Creativity is not just in business or marketing, it is everywhere and it is a way of life. As a writer, I need to be creative to write an old subject from a different perspective. You will be creative in getting things done when you can think of a better way to be more efficient and effective. Creativity propels you to greater height in life, in your chosen field of endeavor. How can you be more creative?
- Conceive ideas: Be inspired. Be observant and read widely. These are the wonderful ways you can do to produce original and unique ideas. As a writer I look around for words such as headlines and book titles and I can be inspired by just one word to trigger an article writing idea.
- Solve problems: If it is not something new, it is not a problem. It is a problem because you encounter it for the first time. You need to use your ingenuity to solve it. Solving problems is a great way to promote creativity. According to Albert Einstein problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.
- See things differently: Look at things from a different angle. View it in a different way. Use a different approach to do a job. Just don’t follow the usual way. Getting out of your comfort zone is one sure way to promote creativity. It is to challenge yourself to make improvement and be progressive.
- The creative way: Creativity is about trying new things, making mistakes and breaking rules. It is also about trial and error.
- Satisfy a need: Innovations and inventions are the results of creativity to satisfy a need to do something in a better way. Find a need and create one for it. As an example, there is a need to find an alternative source of renewable energy to replace oil and coal and so solar power is invented.
” Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity that you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach – how you look at things . . . Whatsoever you do, if you do it joyfully, if you do it lovingly, if your act of doing is not purely economical, then it is creative.” – Osho
