“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”
G.K. Chesterton
There are so many things in life that you can be thankful for, so much so that you have taken things for granted. Here are the things that you should be appreciative of:
- Be thankful for your health: Just imagine those people who are suffering from critical illnesses. They cannot do what they wish to do but only to endure the pain and torture every day.
- Be thankful for holding a job: There are more jobless people now than before. As an employee, you need to provide more value like possessing more than one skill to keep your job. You should be more thankful to keep your job when you should be retired. Be grateful that your services are still valued and appreciated.
- Be thankful for your financial freedom: Be thankful that you are not in debt and you depend on no one to support yourself and your family.
- Be thankful for a united family: Be blessed that all family members are staying under one roof. and you are not separated from your spouse or your children.
- Be thankful for the environment: Thank God that you are living in a place away from volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tidal waves, floods and typhoons.
- Be thankful for what you have: Be contended and be satisfied with what you have. Just imagine that there are many homeless people with nothing.
- Be thankful that you are connected: Take note and show gratitude to those supportive friends and relatives.
- Be thankful that you arrive home safely: Every time you arrive home safe and sound, it is not because you drive with care but you are lucky that you have not encountered reckless or drunk drivers while you are on the road. Every time you board a bus or other public transport be thankful that you have a safe journey. Do remember that your safety is not in your own hands but at the mercy of other people.
- Be thankful to people who render services to you: Say please and thank you to the counter staff who is serving you or the catering staff in the restaurant. You uplift the mood of the other person when you show your appreciation
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
John F Kennedy
Charles - I couldn't agree more. There are plenty of things out there for us to be thankful and grateful for.
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of great ones here already but if I could add one it would be to be thankful for a roof over your head.
There are a lot of folks out there right now that are homeless. We should definitely be thankful we have a place to call our home.
