Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
~-Melody Beattie
According to Oxford Advanced Lerner’s Dictionary,
gratitude is the feeling of being
grateful and wanting to express your thanks. Gratitude is the habit of
looking for goodness in life and it is beneficial to your well-being in many
ways:
1. A positive perspective: Being grateful means looking at the bright side of things
in all situations. A positive outlook boosts your confidence in getting a solution
in a challenging situation. There is a certain
feeling in you that any obstacle can be overcome.
2. Find
courage in adversity: The time may be tough, but it is not at all gloom and
doom. You count your blessings to weather the storm. You will hold tight until
the situation gets better. You are not easily depressed and you will come out
much stronger than before. An attitude of
gratitude provides more energy to cope with a hard time and you also recover much
faster.
3. A
great source of happiness: Gratefulness means you find yourself living in
abundance and feeling good. You are cheerful
and you look forward to each new day with delightfulness. The happiness gets you
more feelings of pleasure and joy in simple things.
4. Hopeful
and optimistic: Being optimistic and hopeful is the nature of grateful people. Whatever
you do, you think more of getting things done successfully. When you plan, you worry
less about the outcome.
5. Look
for solutions instead of complaining: You are not easily upset by bad news. You
will not dwell on a problem and complain about it. You accept the fact and go
on to find a way out and go on with your life.
6. Better
relationships: You will always look for the best in other people instead of
their shortcomings. You will also react to what you have heard from others with
an open mind. You are more compassionate
and forgiving. You are more likely to be connected and outgoing.
7. Peace
of mind: As you find more reasons to feel good about life, your heart is filled
with love and kindness. There are no negative emotions to disturb your peace of
mind. Being grateful means less materialistic and find more satisfaction in
life
Getting into an attitude of gratitude is to discover
more good things in life.
