A Dozen Quick and Easy Ways to be Happy Every Day

Happiness

“Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim and end of human existence.”

Aristotle

You decide your life, either you are happy or miserable. Given a choice, you would live every day happily rather than miserably.
Here are some simple ways that you can be cheerful every day:

  1. Dress your best: To be instantly happy is to dress smartly. When you look at yourself in the mirror and you see a well-dressed person, it gives you confidence as well as happiness right away.

  1. Entertain yourself: Listen to your favourite music, put on your favourite movie or play your favourite instrument. Let the sound and sight lift your mood immediately.

  1. A daily habit of learning: Are you happy when you have learnt something new? I do. When I discover a new and better way to do things I am delighted and thrilled.

  1. Random acts of kindness: You don’t have to look for it. When you come across a chance to lend a hand, just do it. The person that you have helped is grateful to you and you are happy that you are kind to others.
I think I began learning long ago that those who are happiest are those who do the most for others Booker T. Washington (1856-1915), Educator and writer

  1. Meet up with your friends: Seek out your good friends. Share a few jokes and laugh out loud. It is that simple to be happy. Laughter has been proven to help you relax, boost your immune system, protect your heart and make you feel good.

  1. Enjoy your work, enjoy the things that you are doing: “The secret of happiness is not in doing what one likes to do, but in liking what one has to do,” says Sir James M. Barrie

  1. Think of your successes and achievements: The thoughts of previous accomplishments will not only make you happy but boost your self-confidence as well. Continuous daily awareness of your successes affects positively on your emotional happiness.

  1. Live in the moment: According to Oliver Herford, there is no time like the pleasant. Happiness is not worrying about the future or regretting about the past. It is about enjoying what you are doing at the moment mindfully. When your mind is not with the task at hand, you don’t perform well and worst still you make mistakes. It is only when you concentrate on what you are doing that you find joy in it. Likewise, when you are having fun and you are thinking about your work in the office, are you able to let go and enjoy yourself fully?

  1. Be truthful and sincere: When you are honest and sincere to yourself and to your family, there is nothing to hide. There is no guilt feeling about doing something morally wrong and you face the world with full confidence. You are happy because you are what you are. When you betray yourself and others you may end up like Tiger Woods and perhaps it is too little too late to do anything about it. Healthy home life is happy home life. Be happy by being sincere and truthful, don’t live in regrets.

  1. Exercise every day: Exercise in itself will set you in a positive mood because you know it is good for your health. When you feel good about yourself you are naturally as happy as can be.

  1. Find meaning in life: What is your purpose in life? When you find meaning in life your daily life is fulfilling and you are satisfied with what you are doing. It is especially so when you are contributing to others. Success is not a destination: It is a journey. The happiest people I know are those who are busy working toward specific objectives. The most bored and miserable people I know are those who are drifting along with no worthwhile objectives in mind - Zig Ziglar Motivational speaker and writer

  1. Just be happy: Happiness is from within. Happiness is not attaching to material things. If it were, the poorest people in this world would be the most miserable people. In reality, they are among the happiest. They just make the best out of the situation and enjoy what life has offered them. People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be - Abraham Lincoln.

Our goal in life is to turn every ordinary day into an extraordinary day by being happy.
Start the New Year right with a positive mental attitude by being cheerful and joyful every day.
