Sodium and Your Health

Sodium adn Your Health

Most of our sodium, a mineral essential for human life, comes from salt (sodium chloride). Sodium helps to maintain the right balance of fluids in the body. For those people who are more sensitive to the effects of sodium tend to retain sodium more easily, leading to excess fluid retention and increased blood pressure. A condition that can lead to cardiovascular and kidney diseases. To avoid excess intake of sodium, limit consumption of pickled fruits and fruits processed with salt. You should also avoid smoked, salted fish or poultry, or canned meat. Go slow on salted vegetables and pickled vegetables, flavour enhancers such as Monosodium glutamate (MSG), and many other salted items.
