7 Negative Behaviors of Rich People

7 Negative Behavior of Rich People

According to a news item, rich people are more likely to have a negative attitude.  It is noted in a seven-part study by psychologists at the University   of California Berkeley and the University of Toronto analyzing people’s behavior through a series of experiments.

1.       Self-interest: They are more likely to break rules. Drivers of expensive vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, and Toyota's Prius hybrid were seen breaking the rules more often at four-way intersections than people who drove a Camry or Corolla. They were also more likely to cut off pedestrians trying to cross the street than drivers of cheaper cars.

2.       Unethical: They are more likely to tell lies. In another test using a game of dice, given the opportunity to win a $50 prizes, people who self-reported high social socioeconomic status were more likely to lie and say they had rolled higher numbers than they actually had. Even in people for whom $50 is a relatively small amount of money, cheating was three times as high.

3.       Less likely to tell the truth: In other studies, people with higher status were less likely, to tell the truth in a hypothetical job negotiation in which they were the employer trying to hire someone for a job they knew was soon to be eliminated.

4.       Less charitable: There is also a finding that rich people tend to give less to charity than poor people.

5.       More greedy: When given a jar of candy that they were told was for children in a nearby lab – though they could take some if they wanted- the richest people took more candy than anyone else.

6.       Less concerned with other people: Rich people are more independent from others, have more resources, and are therefore less concerned with what others think of their actions than poorer people.

7.       Less connected:  According to Paul Piff of UC Berkeley, people with more money tend to look more positively on greed and rely less on family and friend networks for support in times of need, and this elevated status tend to disconnect them from society.

Learn from the mistakes of rich people.

The quality of relationships is more important than the quantity of food.

Healthy Lifestyle

While you are working on your New Year’s resolutions why not consider the following to be part of your daily healthy living regime?

 1. Eat: Consume more raw and fresh foods from the following food groups:
• Seeds, grain, and nuts
• Vegetables
• Fruits Eat less meat as it is cancer-causing acidic food.

2. Sleep: A good night’s sleep keeps your body in good repairs and rejuvenates yourself. I listen to my biological clock. When I am tired I go to sleep so that when I wake up the next day, I feel fresh and full of energy. The best time to sleep is before midnight and should be for about 7 to 8 hours. To sleep well read this article: Sleep Well - 10 Good Habits

 3. Relax: Life is full of tension and stress because we are always chasing after insatiable material wealth. Meditate or do deep-breathing exercises to counter the daily stress. Every morning I play Tai Chi for about fifteen minutes so that I start a new day calmly and gracefully. Check out Tai Chi Quan (太极拳) for Happiness and More.

 4. Exercise: Vigorous daily exercise is necessary to bring the maximum amount of oxygen to our organs especially the lymphatic system. You will get less and less oxygen into your body with a sedentary lifestyle. I jog regularly to take in more oxygen into my body and I eliminate toxic waste through perspiration.

 5. Preventive maintenance: You service your car regularly to avoid expensive repairs. Likewise, you should take preventive measures to look after your health by taking vitamin-mineral supplements. Taking supplements is necessary because of the following:
 • Overcooking of food damages the heat-sensitive vitamins and other nutrients
• Smoking
*Alcohol consumption
 • Stress
• Accident and illnesses
• Poor food storage methods
• Eating too much of the wrong kind of food
I take Centrum, a multimineral-multivitamin tablet every morning after my breakfast. It’s like taking an insurance cover for my health.

 6. Positive thinking: Change your mindset to a positive, health-oriented attitude. Remember every cloud has a silver lining. It does not matter what happens to you, it is your positive reaction to it that counts. Find out how positive thinking can bring happiness to your life in this article: Positive Thinking - 10 Delightful Tips to Make You Happy.

 7. Be happy: Live life fully by enjoying every moment of your life. Every morning when I wake up I thank God for allowing me another day to live. Look at the greenery, listen to music. Just think about it, all these things are not possible for those who are deaf and blind. Fill your heart with love instead of anger and jealousy, because your negative thoughts will only hurt yourself and your well-being and nobody else. Look at the bright side of things.

We are always in a hurry. Let us slow down and learn to live and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. Cheers to your good health and have a happy day!

Financial Freedom, Lifestyle and Loan Sharks

Financial Freedom, Lifestyle and Loan Sharks

According to recent newspaper reports those borrowers who approach loan sharks are no longer confined to gamblers who are heavily in debt. Nowadays more and more professionals are going to them to get financial assistance. They are doctors, lawyers, and even company chief executive officers. As reported in the paper, they are desperate and they have no choice and they are fully aware of the consequences. They are hit by the financial meltdown.

The root of their problems is their lifestyle habit. The rich people work hard and they think long term. They invest their money to earn passive income. While poor people use their hard-earned money to invest in their current lifestyle because they think short term. The habit of managing money is more important than the amount of money that you have.

As long as they follow these tips they will never need to approach loan sharks or “Ah Long”, popularly known in Malaysia and Singapore.

* Save or pay yourself first 10% of your income for your retirement and children’s education fund.

* Do not spend more than what you earn by using your credit cards. Inadvertently you are building up debts that you can't settle later.

* Have a budget and always adhere to it. Your budget will cover your daily essential expenses as well as your monthly housing loan, insurance premiums, and others.

* Always set aside an amount to cover three to six months’ expenses just in case you are out of work. This is your emergency fund.

You can’t live without money, but money is not everything in your life. Your life is made up of your health, your family, your relationship with others, and most importantly, your happiness.
