7 Effective Ways to Conquer Fear

Fear is a darkroom where negatives develop.  ~ Usman B. Asif

Are you fearful of the future and the unknown?  I have found 7 practical ways to overcome the uneasy feeling:

1.      What is bothering you: Always ask yourself this question when you are worried. Most of the time it is just a feeling inside you and there is nothing to worry about. Just ignore it and go on with your life.  In most cases, the real fear is about the future and you know you can’t do anything about it.  Thinking and worrying about it is only a drain of your energy.

Fears are nothing more than states of mind.  ~Napoleon Hill

2.      Plan ahead with a to-do list: I find that when you do planning and getting ready a to-do list for the following day, you get a good feeling about yourself. It is a great way to attack your fears when you know precisely what you are going to do next.

3.      Action: Taking action confirms that you can do something about an issue. Just go ahead and do it instead of dwelling on the problem. You may not get it right, but you can always try another way to get things done.

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.  ~Dale Carnegie

4.      Focus: Instead of allowing your mind to wonder about, paying attention to the tasks at hand and doing the best you can is the most effective way to get rid of your fear.

5.      Stay positive and calm: When you are healthy and fit, you will stay cool and calm to deal with difficulties and problems in life.

A cheerful frame of mind, reinforced by relaxation... is the medicine that puts all ghosts of fear on the run.  ~George Matthew Adams

6.      Live in the now: The easiest way to deal with anxiety is to live one day at a time. You are here and now, just do what you must do, concentrate on the process and enjoy it. Living in the present is the source of your true happiness. It is real because you can feel it, smell it, hear it and touch it.

7.      Attitude: Instead of looking at your fear like a problem, take it as one of your challenges in your life. Summon your creative resources and think of a workable solution to deal with it. Meeting challenges is the greatest achievement in life. Your confidence is elevated and you will look ahead surely and positively.

If we let things terrify us, life will not be worth living. ~SENECA, Epistles
