Parents play a vital role in the shaping of their child‘s future. By providing the appropriate guidance and instilling positive values in her early life, you will boost her self-confidence and self-esteem. Here are some tips to share with parents:

  1. A learning environment: To foster a learning attitude in your child, parents can play their role by reading at home while your child is doing her homework. Turn off the TV which is very distracting and make reading a habit for all at home.

  1. Getting organized: Help your child to follow a routine at home. Work with your child to create a time table to allocate time to do homework, to play, and to rest. This is to inculcate a disciplined life in her.

  1. Eat together: Eating together means communicating with each other in the family. This allows your child to develop verbal skills. Children with good verbal skills usually perform better in school.

  1. Provide the tools for your child to learn. Instead of giving the answers to solve your child's problems, teach her to use a dictionary, maps, and other resources to stimulate her interest in learning

  1. Enthusiastic reader: Supply reading material to your child that she is interested in so that she is happy to explore and read other books besides textbooks. Reading is such an important habit in a child's life. A love for books will last her a lifetime.

  1. Teach the value of failures: Make your child understand that there are ups and downs in a person’s life. The right approach is to look at each failure as a learning experience. Move on in life but take note of the mistakes.

  1. A problem-solving attitude: Encourage your child to think of ways to solve her own problems instead of helping her out. This will promote her problem-solving skills

Happiness is seeing your child growing up with a positive image of herself.
