No Worries |
Worry is a darkroom where negatives develop.
Most of the time, the things that we worry about do not happen. However, if there is a genuine concern for a particular issue there is always a way to deal with it:
- Always find out the cause of the things that worries you: Write it down and find out it is really the concern of your anxiety. Get the help of others to list down a few alternatives and pick one and take action on it. Focus on solutions and not on worry
- Organize your day well: One of the reasons that you worry about is that you don’t have a to-do list ready for the day and you are worried that one or two tasks may skip your mind. The best thing is to get ready for the to-do list in the evening the previous day. Organizing your day not only ends your worry but you are more efficient, effective, and productive. According to Charles H. Spurgeon,” It is said that our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.”
- Exercise: I find out that every time after a jog, I am relaxed and I am able to think and concentrate better. It is one of the best ways to deal with your worry.
- Proper perspective: Do not paint a picture of gloom and doom when the news of retrenchment has spread around in the office. Get the facts and see what really the matter is. Don’t allow your negative feeling to get the better of you. Do not worry about things that are beyond your control.
- Deep breathing: Doing deep breathing exercises daily gives you inner peace and you’re not disturbed emotionally by external events.
- Be connected: Don’t worry alone. Talk to your friends and relatives and before you know you don’t have as much worry as before. You feel better when you let it out. Do not keep the worry to yourself.
- Avoid the news: Bad news is good news for newspapers. They are fond of sensationalizing the issues and playing up your negative emotions in the morning. Don’t read the paper and don't watch the TV. The news is disturbing you.
- Avoid excessive drinking: Too much drinking will not solve all your worry. When you are sober you will have even more problems than before because you have not taken decisive action to arrest your problems.
- Spend time on your interests and passion: Doing things that you enjoy very much is another good way to tackle worry. .As an example, Playing a musical instrument is a good idea to get rid of tension and frustration and restore your balance and logical thinking.
- Avoid boredom: Keep the day fully occupied. Boredom will brew worrisome thoughts in your mind.
- Be happy: Just make up your mind to be happy to replace all your feelings and thoughts of anxiety and fear.
- Positive mental attitude: Looking at things on the bright side will inadvertently reduce or get rid of your worry.
Live life fully every day. Don’t worry about the past and the future, the past is gone and the future is not here yet. When you have lived well for today, tomorrow will be a better day for you and you will have a sweet memory for yesterday.
