Do you know why there are people who do not want to get up early? The main reason is that they don’t enjoy what they are supposed to do for the day. They also don’t find meaning in what they do day in and day out. There is no excitement or incentive for them to start a new day early. Another reason is that they don’t plan ahead to take charge of a new day. They take their own sweet time and allow things to happen and react to them: They are not proactive to do what they want to do. Early risers do things more efficiently and effectively:
- They plan ahead: They decide what they want do in the evening for the following day. They get ready the to-do list for the following day before going to bed. Psychologically it gives them peace of mind because they are already in control of events before it is unfolded.
- Positive emotions: They are eager and enthusiastic to get up early because they are fully aware of what to expect in a brand new day. If they do not know what to do, do you think they have the urge to get up early? The other point is that they enjoy the activities. Most likely what they are going to do will bring them closer to their goals in life.
- Do it now: Early risers are determined to get things done. They have an attitude of getting things done right away. Otherwise, what do you think they are so excited about getting up early?
- Organized: If they are not organized why should they wake up and get up early? The day has already been planned ahead and all they need to do is to follow the plan and execute accordingly. They have less stress and less pressure and enjoy better health.
- Happy people: They live in the moment, they enjoy the process of working and they are focus on the task at hand. They are happy in doing what they want to do.
- Effective time management: They work better in the morning and they get the most important things done in the early hours of a new day. They are able to achieve 80% of their productivity in spending just 20% of their time. They are in full control of their time.
Success is a three-step process. Plan ahead, get up early and get things done.
After doing a good job, don’t forget to take a deserving break and have a cup of coffee to reward what you have done.

Great post, I totally agree with your notion that early risers are more proactive in their activities. I can think of a few people I know who get up at the crack of dawn everyday, and your list of characteristics matched them perfectly!
