10 Simple Ways to Improve Your Well-Being

Young Beauty Has Leaned A Cheek Against Snow On A
Are you feeling comfortable? According to an article, The Five Essential Elements of Wellbeing, a person’s well-being consists of five elements:
  • The first element is about how you occupy your time or simply liking what you do every day: Your Career Wellbeing.
  • The second element is about having strong relationships and love in your life: Your Social Wellbeing.
  • The third element is about effectively managing your economic life: Your Financial Wellbeing.
  • The fourth element is about having good health and enough energy to get things done on a daily basis: Your Physical Wellbeing.
  • The fifth element is about the sense of engagement you have with the area where you live: Your Community Wellbeing.
Well-being is about feeling good, healthy, and happy. Here are 10 simple ways to boost your well-being:

1.      Exercise: An active lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. Energy is derived from a healthy body. Energy boosts productivity.

2.      Kindness and forgiveness: To be in a state of serenity and getting peace of mind is to hold no grudges and forgive the wrong doings of others done towards us.  Kindness is the way of personal well-being. Giving promotes happiness to the giver as well as the receiver.

3.      Live within your means: Live your own way of life according to your means. A debt-free life is a carefree life. You sleep soundly every night because you know what you own is all yours.

4.      Hopeful: It is a positive expectation of the future. Life may be harsh and unkindly, you look forward to each new day thinking that it will be a better day.

5.      Be grateful: Think of what you have instead of what you want. Count your blessings and be thankful. Living in abundance is about a decent job, a roof over your head, and a happy family,

6.      Be connected: Hang out with your friends, go for a movie or chat over a cup of coffee. Life is about getting connected. Express your feelings, tell others about what‘s in your mind. Do it now without regret.

7.      Learn something new: Keep learning to stimulate your mind. Technology is advancing at an accelerated pace, embrace IT and move forward with the changing time.

8.      Purpose in life: It is about your passion, vision, and goals in life. It is meaningful to you and it brings you happiness.

9.      Live in the present: Live from moment to moment, focus on the task at hand. Immerse in what you do so that you will do the best you can  with mindfulness

10.  Balanced life: Life is not just about work. Your family comes first. Do not spend more time working at the expense of your family. Money cannot buy happiness in family life. It is your present that counts.

“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.” —Mary Anne Roadacher-Hershey

20 Delightful Ways to Boost Your Well-Being

20 Delightful Ways to Boost Your Well-Being

"I believe the recipe for happiness to be just enough money to pay the monthly bills you acquire, a little surplus to give you confidence, a little too much work each day, enthusiasm for your work, a substantial share of good health, a couple of real friends and a wife and children to share life's beauty with you."

~J. Kenfield Morley

According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, well-being is general health and happiness. I like the simple explanation and I can think of many ways to promote your well-being:

1.      Positive mental attitude: It is about looking at the bright side of things. When you face a problem you take it as a challenge and look for a solution instead of dwelling on the issue. Be willing to accept constructive criticism and make changes for the better. Instead of fear, you fill your mind with confidence and take quick action.

2.      Eat healthily: You are what you eat. Have more vegetables and fruits. Drink a lot of water instead of sugary beverages. Eating simple food at home is better than fast food outlets. Eating right will give you energy and health. Eat less but more often and do not skip your breakfast.

3.      A close-knit family: What do you get at home? Peace of mind, sanity, the laughter of your children, and your pet dog wagging its tail waiting for you. A home is a heaven on earth when you play an active role as a husband or wife and a father or mother and friend to your children.

4.      Friendship: Enjoy and treasure the relationships. Friendship is to share, care, have fun and be together in happiness and sadness.

5.      Exercise: The greatest wealth in life is your health. To be healthy and happy is to exercise every day. As an example, it’s uplifting to jog and sweat it out.

6.      Sleep well: A good night’s sleep is the best thing you can do to restore damages done to your body after a stressful day at work. You will regain your energy and freshness after sleeping soundly for eight hours.

7.      LOL: As we grow older we do not laugh as often as we used to be. Visit Facebook and Pinterest and look at funny quotes and images. You will be amused and laugh out loud.

8.     Something to do every dayMy dream is to be the No. 1 blogger in Malaysia. I am excited and enthusiastic about it. Go after your dreams.:Life is about living your dreams passionately. Dreams give you direction and hope in life, something to look forward to each day.
9.      Work: Happiness at work is to like what you do and enjoy it. Work diligently with your heart and soul, look after your reputation, keep promises and build trust. When you work hard and smart, you will feel good about yourself.

10.  Live in the moment: Happiness is here and now and not in the future or the past. Be mindful of what you do and enjoy the process of doing the task at hand. When you are eating savor the food and don’t watch TV or do anything else. When you play you play hard.

"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
~Buddha

11.  Financial independence: Financial well-being is debt-free and having sufficient amount to live the golden years.

12.  Gratitude: Filling your heart with thankfulness and appreciation is the way to get spiritual well-being. The key to wellness is kindness, forgiveness, and contentment.

13.  Balanced life: Work is important so is your family. Strike a balance between the two to enjoy your work and your family.

14.  Choose: Your life is the sum of all your choices. The wise thing to do is to choose things that bring you happiness.

15.  Be with nature:  The best thing in life is free. Go outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Take a jungle trek, enjoy the sea breeze on the beach and walk along the river bank and watch t the boats pass by. Jog in the park, walk the dog, and watch the moving clouds. These are some of the marvelous things you can in the open.

16.  Change: Doing the same old thing every day is boring.  Do things differently and make changes in life. Take on new challenges to stretch your capabilities and live a more interesting and rewarding life.

17.  Just do it: Instead of delaying, take immediate action to drive away fear and anxiety. Acting builds confidence.

18.  Go away: See new places and people. Experience new things to enrich your mind.

19.  Be inspired and motivated: Read and be inspired by stories of disabled people who are able to live normally and happily.  Be motivated by quotes from famous people. Read daily and you will look at life more wisely.

20.  Keep learning: Life is about learning, when you stop learning you stop living.

Life is about health and happiness. Are you living in a state of well-being?

4 pillars

The other day I came across an article by the title of “The Four Pillars of Cancer”. It is stated in the article that:

1. 50 percent caused by POOR DIET

2. 25 percent caused by TOXINS

3. 25 percent caused by INFECTION

4. Unknown percent caused by MENTAL STATE

How do you combat the 4 Pillars of cancer? Apply the 4 pillars of well-being:

1. Physical well-being

2. Mental well-being

3. Spiritual well-being

4. Emotional well-being

Physical well-being

• Get moving daily to improve your stamina, strength, and suppleness.

• Take breaks between tasks to avoid stress.

• Pamper your body with a spa treatment or massage.

• Unwind by listening to music or enjoying one of your favorite pastimes.

• Sleep well at night in order to regain your energy and repair damages done to your body after a stressful day.

• Do deep breathing exercises.

• Eat your breakfast every day and enjoy your meals by eating slowly.

Eat less but more frequently.

• Avoid junk food and the three whites (white bread, white sugar, and white rice).

• Avoid food added with preservatives and additives.

• Give up smoking and drink moderately.

• Drink a lot of water every day.

• Drink green tea.

• Eat more fruits and vegetables.

• Avoid polluted environment and second-hand smoke.

By taking care of your body physically and eating right you will strengthen your immune system to guard yourself against infection and avoid toxins. However, your mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being are the other three pillars essential to fight against the unknown factor of cancer caused by a mental state.

Mental well-being

• Think positively and be confident of yourself.

• Look at the bright side of things.

• Live in the moment, don’t think of the past regrets or worry about the future.

• Exercise your brain by continuous learning.

• Physical exercise is not only good for your body but promotes your concentration and memory as well.

• Do not be discouraged by defeats but bounce back. Be resilient.

Spiritual well-being

• Do yoga or Tai Chi to meditate.

• Develop a sense of peace and calmness in your mind.

• A clear conscience will promote a peaceful soul.

• Donate to worthy causes.

• Do random acts of kindness.

• Make the best use of what you have and be contented.

Emotional well-being

• Start a new day cheerfully and hopefully.

• Feel good about yourself and be happy.

• Be aware of your emotions.

• Able to control the outburst of negative emotions such as anger, resentment, and hatred.

• React positively to negative events; find a solution instead of dwelling on the problem.

A positive mindset and a healthy lifestyle are the best way to fight cancer.
