12 Healthy Habits to Live Life

Assorted Fruits
What you do every day can be beneficial or detrimental to your health. Staying up late every night and getting insufficient sleep is bad for your health while early to bed and early to rise to promote good health.

Here are 12 healthy habits to adopt and change your life for the better:

1.      Maintain a balanced diet: The keyword is natural.  Avoid processed food with additives and take in less sugar and salt. Consume more fruits and vegetables and eat less meat as it is cancer-causing acidic food. Find out more about Cancer Prevention - Acidic and Alkaline Food. Maintain the habit of having breakfast and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Give up the bad habit of smoking and try to drink moderately. Have seeds grain and nuts as part of your natural food.  The habit of drinking green tea every day will strengthen your immune system.

2.      Oral hygiene and eating habits: Do daily brushing and flossing and it is also heart-healthy. Chew your food and eat slowly is good for your digestive system.

3.      Exercise: Jogging is one of the best exercises because you connect with nature, enjoy the great outdoors, get fresh air and sunshine for vitamin D. Remember total fitness is about boosting your stamina (jogging), flexibility (stretching), and strength (weightlifting). Every day breathe slowly and deeply right down into your stomach to promote calmness in you. This is what I do. I breathe in at a count of 5 and then I hold my breath for a count of 20 and then I breathe out at a count of 10. It is also good for your lymphatic system. If possible, park your car far away and walk to your place of work.

4.      Sleep: Your sleeping habit is more important than your late-night TV  program. A good night’s sleep will rejuvenate your body and naturalize the harmful effect of stress during the day.

5.   Spiritual wellbeing: Learn to forgive and get peace of mind. It is the best way to stay calm. Fill your heart with gratitude and kindness. Thinking of love instead of hatred and revenge is the way to live.

6.      Avoid negative emotions:  Try to get rid of some of the negative emotions such as anger jealousy, grievances, worries, and holding grudges. It is toxic for your mind and body.

7.      Control stress: Getting into a habit to unwind and relax is important to reduce stress.  Meditate and perform Tai Chi are some of the ways to regain your balance after a hectic day.

8.      Enjoy your work: Look at your job from a positive perspective; you are productive and contributing.  Besides, an active lifestyle is good for your brain. It stays sharp and alert.  Do take breaks while at work to restore your energy and maintain your concentration at work.

9.      Live within your means: The aim of financial freedom is to get peace of mind. Wanting less and leading a simple life are ways to stay out of debt.

10.  Positive thoughts: Good and bad things will happen to you, it is your positive response that counts. Be hopeful about life because tough times never last but tough people do.

11.  Medical examination: Make it a habit to do a thorough check annually to make sure that you are in the pink of health. In case of early detection of critical illnesses, it means a good chance to be treated and be cured.

12.   An attitude of gratitude: As mentioned in No.5, forgiveness is able to maintain your wellbeing while an attitude of gratitude will generate happiness in your life. One effective way to promote appreciation and thankfulness is to write a few things that you are grateful for. Counting your blessings is a healthy habit to develop in your daily life.

Healthy Habits Be Smart at Work

Healthy habits

A change in bad habits leads to a change in life. ~ Jenny Craig

Do you have healthy habits at work? Healthy habits promote a good feeling in you and better productivity at work. Here are the things you can do easily to develop healthy habits at work.

1. Water: Are you drinking enough water at work? It is very easy to find out if you do. Just check your urine; if it is not colorless, you are not drinking enough water. Drink throughout the day to be hydrated and prevent tiredness, fatigue and maintain concentration as your brain consists mainly of water (90%).

2. Take breaks: Do you take breaks, such as an afternoon tea break? Taking regular breaks allows you to recover from exhaustion and stress. The most important thing is to clear the clutter in your mind. You must have this kind of experience, you can’t solve a problem, you take a break and when you resume working your problem is instantly identified and solved.

3. Take lunch away from the office: Do not glue to your PC and eat at the same time. When you are not concentrating on eating, your brain will not be able to tell that you have eaten enough and you could be overeating. The best thing to do is to get away from the office and eat outside to enjoy a meal. Let your brain take a deserving break from work.

To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art. ~ La Rochefoucaul

4. Breathe slowly and deeply: Breathe right down into your stomach to promote calmness in you. This is what I do. I breathe in at a count of 5 and then I hold my breath for a count of 20 and then I breathe out at a count of 10. It is also good for your lymphatic system.

5. Comfortable at work: Is the lighting bright enough? Poor lighting will affect your mood and concentration at work. Is the chair comfortable and provides good support for your body? Place a pot of plants on your desk to uplift your mood and encourage the flow of positive energy.

6. Go slow: In order to go slow and work with peace of mind, you need to get organized and get ready for a to-do list. You know what to expect in advance as you have already prioritized the tasks according to their importance. Things get done in an orderly manner and you do one thing at a time without the stress and rushing about.

7. Exercise: To move your body regularly, such as jogging, is to be fit and energetic. A healthy body contributes to mindfulness and calmness at work. It means you are more productive.

8. Sleep well: Sleeping late and getting up late is not the same as going to bed early and getting up early. You are violating the natural rhythm of your body and you will not feel fresh and energetic.

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy, and wise. ~ Benjamin Franklin

9. Be happy: Happiness which promotes well-being is an attitude and an attitude becomes a good and healthy habit. Do what you like at work and enjoy what you do are ingredients for good health at work.

10. Leave work at work: The key is a balanced life. When you bring home more work to do you are under pressure and your home life is affected and so is your well-being.

11. Healthy Thinking: Positive thinking is healthy thinking. It encourages good vibration in you because you are upbeat, confident, and hopeful about life. Negative thoughts attract negative energies such as anxiety and worries which are bad for your health.

Healthy ways to live

Healthy ways to live

Healthy living involves your physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. There are many ways to live healthily and happily.

  • Change: A healthy way of life involves changing your habits and your thinking.
It means replacing your bad habits with good ones and be more optimistic about life.

  • Spiritual growth: Fill your heart with gratitude, forgiveness, and kindness. Love is the way to peace of mind.

  • Goals: The most important thing in life is to have written goals. Your mind will be the focus on your goals and not drifting aimlessly. There is something to look forward to and life is hopeful.

  • Do work that is good for others: Is your work to provide solutions to people’s problems? When what you do is beneficial to others, it gives you a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

  • Eating habits: Avoid eating in a hurry or under stress. You can have a drink before or after your meal but do not drink and eat. Eat slowly and chew your food well to assist digestion.

It is a good habit to excrete in the morning. Thereafter, your system will do the digestion of food eaten up to the evening. At night while you are sleeping your system is working and absorbing nutrients. It is actually the natural cycle of your digestive system.

  • Exercise: Enjoy total fitness by boosting your stamina (jogging), flexibility (stretching), and strength (weightlifting). You derive your energy and alertness from physical activities.

  • Sleep: A good night’s sleep repairs damages done to your body after a stressful day. Quality sleep refreshes your mind and you start a new day with renewed energy

  • Healthy diet: Drink water instead of a sugary drink. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Take one multivitamin-mineral supplement tablet daily as nutritional insurance. Go for natural food. Avoided processed food with additives, such as flavourings (like sugar and salt) and texture-enhancing agents, and other added chemicals as preservatives.

  • Be connected: A family unit is a source of happiness. To care and be cared for are the greatest joy in life. Share joy and sorrow in the journey of life. Visit your friends and relatives because a healthy life is about getting connected and supported among people you know and care for.

  • Intellectual development: Continuous learning is the best way to broaden the mind. Learning stimulates the mind and you will be more alert and adaptive to changes in life.

  • Psychological health: Are you feeling good about yourself? Is your mood generally positive? Are you calm and peaceful emotionally? Are you coping well with life’s challenges? Are you happy most of the time? If your answers to all these questions are affirmative, you are doing fine.

  • Avoid pollution: The main culprits are air, water, and noise pollution.  Stay away from smokers and live away from heavy traffic. At home install a water filtration system to drink pure water. Heavy traffic and airports contribute to noise pollution. Live close to nature for a healthier life.

10 Bad Habits to Avoid and Reduce Your Expenses

Bad habit

Do you have these bad habits which are not only a drain of your financial resources but they are also detrimental to you good health?

1. Smoking: A packet of cigarettes costs about RM10/=. If you smoke a pack a day it means you will be burning away RM3, 650/= a year. At the same time, you are also ruining your health. When the amount is invested you will be richer by many times more than the amount you have burnt and you are also in good health to enjoy your wealth later.

2. Drinking: It is more than a waste of money because the habit is always related to drunk driving and in many cases they are fatal.

3. Use the car more than necessary: Don’t just think of your car when you think of transportation. Your two legs are an excellent means of going places easily and conveniently. Why waste petrol and car maintenance when you can walk?

4. Junk food: It is foolish to use your hard-earned money to buy something which does not give you nutritional value and it can be easily turned into a bad habit to consume regularly and sabotage your health and well-being

5. Soft drink: Why waste money to get a soft drink when water is freely available at home? Excessive consumption of sugary drink will bring you critical illnesses and long-term sufferings

6. Gambling: Gambling leads to debt and bankruptcy. It is the worst habit you can ever have in life.

7. Surfing the Net: Don’t waste electricity and cost of connection when you surf the Net aimlessly. It is a waste of time and energy when you can be productive in other ways.

8. Inactive: When you don’t move your body often you are more likely to succumb to illnesses and as a result incurring unnecessary medical expenses.

9. Watching TV: It is yet another bad habit that makes you lazy besides taking away your money to pay for the monthly subscription and not to mention paying more for electricity. The longer you watch TV the lazier you will be. In the end, nothing gets done. When you are connected to the TV set you are disconnected from your family members.

10. Disorganized: Don’t store things such as grocery items at home haphazardly. When you can’t locate an item you waste money and time to get one outside. By the time an item is discovered, it has long passed its useful life and you have to throw away. Not planning your trip is another way to waste precious time and petrol

By avoiding these bad habits you will be richer by the amount of money that you can save and even more.
