According to the research presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in 2002, it was demonstrated that vitamin C and E can prevent damage caused by too much exposure to sunlight and also improve skin texture.

Furthermore, the journal of Investigative Dermatology, 2005, reported that people who consumed vitamins C and E in the long run reduced sunburns caused by UVB radiation.

Additionally, vitamins C and E also reduce the effects of free radicals which reduce collagen and elastin. Vitamin E also helps to slow down the conversion of soluble collagen (which is mainly found in younger skin) into insoluble collagen (usually found in older skin).

Vitamins A is required for the repair and maintenance of skin tissue. While B vitamins help with blood circulation to the skin, prevent oily skin, pigmentation, or liver spots, and address dermatitis and eczema.

As for minerals, selenium and copper help protect skin from sun damage. Zinc is often
linked to acne as it helps control oil production. Together with vitamin C and the mineral zinc, copper helps to develop elastin - the fibers that support skin structure from underneath.

So if you want to keep your skin supple, elastic with a youthful glow you have to do it inside out.
