7 Tips to Get into the Good Book of Your Boss

Manager

To win the favor of your boss, you have to make him feel good about you.

You don’t have to manipulate him. Just treat him like you want to be treated by others. It’s all about human relationships. Here are the 7 tips:

  1. Be professional: You are hired because of your area of expertise. You are expected to offer your expert opinions. The right way to go about it is to be sincere and honest. Let your boss look at the full picture so that he can make wise decisions with your valued input. Do not just show the advantages but the disadvantages as well in every issue.

  1. Say it when you have to: You don’t have to talk often to your boss, but when an issue needs to be addressed; your boss should be highlighted and alerted promptly.

  1. Be respectful: Your boss may be nice to you but the normal courtesy and respect for your boss should always be there. It is more so when he is with other people.

  1. Ask, don’t assume: The worst thing you can do in any workplace is to assume things. When you are not sure, ask. The same applies when you deal with your boss. Understand the message perfectly from your boss before execution to avoid disaster.

  1. Do more: Do not confine to your area of work. When you can get other things done, just do it. Your initiative will be appreciated.

  1. Proactive: Know in advance what is expected of you, do it, and deliver in a timely fashion. Know when to see him and how he wants to be reported - in writing or just orally. Organize yourself and plan your work in such a way to suit his requirements. Whenever there is a problem go to him with your recommended solutions.

  1. Be positive: Dress smartly, be cheerful, and look at things on the bright side. The boss may not be in a good mood, it does not mean that there is something wrong with you. Your positive outlook will inspire others as well as your boss.

Getting along with your boss is just like getting along with everyone else. Bring out the best in him so that he will see the best in you.

Never let your boss be blindsided.
    Don't complain, come with solutions.
