The reunion dinner of the Chinese people

On the eve of the Chinese New Year

The eve of the Chinese New Year is an important day for all the Chinese people around the world. It is even more important than the first day of Chinese New Year. This is the time for all those living away from their parents to return to their home towns and villages where their parents are living. During the rest of the year the small towns and villages are deserted. But on the eve of Chinese New Year, the places are alive with people who have returned from big towns and cities to pay homage to their parents. They don't come alone; they bring their whole family along. The highlight of the evening is the reunion dinner. All the family members sit around a round table. The table is full of Chinese dishes. Each dish has its own significance. For instance, fish means wealth, and bamboo shoots mean advancement in one's career.

For those who live far away from their parents, this is the time to visit the old folks at home. They are old and fragile and they are expecting to see their children on this day.

Did you Purchase the Right Life Insurance Policy for Yourself?

life Insurance

Consider the following points when you purchase an insurance policy:

Disability income protection: You are paid a monthly amount in case you are unable to continue working due to an accident or illness.

Hospitalization and surgical cover: This is to take care of your hospital bill when you are unfortunate enough to be admitted into a hospital.

Term Policy: You can take out term insurance for a specific period to cover premature death. This is a low-cost cover for a high death benefit. However, when you survive the term you get nothing.

Looking for a Job

Looking for a Job

From my own experience, the most effective job search method is to take stock of your skills and knowledge, and then research the company that interests you. After you have done your homework you approach the organization to see the person who has the power to hire you for the position that you are interested in. At the same time, you can also refer your friends and relatives for job openings. Happy job hunting!

The Three Vital Steps in Studying

The Three Vital Steps in Studying

For effective learning take the following three vital steps:

 1. Pre-learning - When you study in advance you will know the additional ideas given by the teacher when you are in class. You will not waste your time taking note of those points which are already in the book.

2. When you are in class you can immediately clarify those areas which you are not very clear right after the main lesson.

3. Post-learning - When you are at home it's time to consolidate what you have learnt and make sure that you understand the lesson well.

5 Ways to Get Along Better With Your Boss

5 Ways to Get Along Better With Your Boss

The way you deal with your boss will, in part, determine your future promotion and your salary increment. According to David Robinson, there are some important principles of good business behaviour to be observed. In his book, " Business Etiquette" he mentions the following points:

 1. Do not put your boss in embarrassing or unfair situations and support his decisions even though you may not be agreeable.

 2. Be loyal to him and defend your boss from criticism when necessary.

 3. If you have complaints which concern your boss, address them, in confidence, to him in a reasonable way.

4. If you are not happy with the way your boss has dealt with an issue you should refer to a more senior person with his knowledge and with a sufficient period of notice to allow him to reconsider.

5. Ensure that your personal behaviour fits in with the team and your talents and efforts are noticeable by your boss and colleagues
