7 Effective Ways to be Trusted Online

To be trusted is a greater compliment than being loved.
George MacDonald

Building trust online is no different from gaining the confidence of the customers of your business in the real world. There are several factors to build and establish trust in what you do.

1.       Established: How long has your site being online? The longer you have established your blog on the Net, the more trust you will gain from the readers. To sustain your presence online you need to be passionate about what you do and be good at it. Time is an important factor to consider the trustworthiness of your site.

2.       Authority: You have to earn the trust of others in you. Building authority is the way to gain the trust of the readers online. Your Technorati Authority and ranking of your site are proof of trust in what you have written. Your Traffic Rank and PageRank are also a solid indication of your authority. The most important thing is to find out how many relevant and authoritative sites are linking to you and how many and how often people come to your site. It is an effective measurement of your authority. Show your Website Grade and Ezine Expert Author widgets to compliment your authority.

3.       First impression: Make it easy for the readers to look for your articles and read them. The most important thing is that they don’t have to think about what to do in order to get what they want. Allow the readers to read your articles in one go without being distracted by advertisements and the need to click more pages to continue reading an article. Simple and easy navigation of your site is a key factor to be trusted.

4.       Write for the readers: Provide solutions and solving readers’ problems are the main objective of your site. It is in this respect that you gain the trust of the readers in you and your site.

5.       Niche: This is the area of your interest and more importantly, your expertise. Your articles should be written within your niche and not something else because your readers think that your site, as the domain name suggests, meets their requirements and they expect you to deliver the goods. Be focused on your niche.

6.       About page: Your “About” page is not to talk more about yourself but what you can offer to the readers. The readers want to know what you can offer them with evidence to show you can deliver. This is the place to show proof of your expertise and authority to gain the trust of the readers.

7.       Consistency: Like a bricks-and-mortar business, you post your articles regularly and consistently. If it is to be posted daily, it should be online every day at the same time, just like you open your office on the dot at 9 every morning. Regularity will turn on the readers as they trust you and expect to see a new article every day at the usual time.

Trust is like a mirror once broken you never look at in the same way again.

Be Trusted and be Respected

Trust

Trust is like a vase.. once it's broken, though you can fix it the vase will never be the same again.”

Trust can only be earned and there is no other way to get it. It takes a long time to build it and it can be destroyed instantly. How do you build the trust of other people in you?

Trust yourself first: According to Cardinal De Ret, “A man who doesn’t trust himself can never really trust anyone else.” Trust yourself for what you have promised yourself to do. If you can’t believe that you can do it, who else can you believe?

Be trusted at work: Trust is an important success factor at work. It is a part of your performance. When you can’t be trusted it means there is a reservation about your performance. You really have to earn the trust of others for the first time and every time. You have to promise to deliver and deliver as promised and there is no other way about it.

Be trusted at home: In every carton of glasses, there are 4 words written on the outside:” Fragile! Handle with Care”. It is the same as a marriage. Once the trust is broken it is beyond reconciliation, just like Tiger Wood. Likewise, when you have promised your children to do something just do it and don’t break the trust of your children in you. It does not matter how small the issue is, it is the trust that matters.

Be trusted among people: When you do not honor your promises to your friends, it means you do not value friendship and very soon you will have fewer friends. You will regret when you need help and there is no one to count on.

Be trusted in the community: As an example, it takes a long time for others in the blogosphere to trust you. You can build or destroy trust in a simple act like posting your articles. Are you able to post in a consistent and regular basis so that readers will not be disappointed and turned off?

Build trust in you and be trusted and respected.
