10 Tips to Manage Changes in the Workplace

changes

The world is changing rapidly. New ideas, latest technologies, and new people are making changes every day. Your workplace has been influenced by outside forces to make the necessary changes as well. In fact, change is the norm in and out of the workplace. How do you cope with changes at work? Here are the top 10 tips:

  1. Be adaptable and receptive: Be patient to understand, learn, and accept new ways of doing things so that you will get used to it in the shortest possible time. Look at the benefits so as to embrace changes.

  1. Be flexible: Do not be adamant about your own ideas. Look at new things from a positive perspective. Find out how you can gain from the changes.

  1. Be open-minded: To learn new things you have to forget what you know.
Welcome new things and new ideas to gain insight. Find out how you can adopt new ideas in the area of your work.

  1. Be willing to learn from others: One advantage of learning from others is that other people’s ideas are the keys to your own creativity. The only worry is that other people are not willing to share their ideas with you.

  1. Be happy: Changes may be inevitable but you can choose to be cheerful and be confident of what you do at the workplace. Stay focused and find satisfaction in your role.

  1. Be able to accept constructive criticism: Do not be defensive. Examine the ideas carefully. Be willing to change for the better. Others will be pleased to know that you are a person of character.

  1. Be willing to accept other people’s ideas: Discuss new ideas with your boss and other workers. Be willing to accept better ways of doing things. Others will be pleased and willing to work with you.

  1. Be creative: Be willing to take the initiative to look for new ways of doing things to get better results.  It means you get out of your comfort zone and make the changes yourself or else you will be the victim of change- your job is redundant and you are no longer needed.

  1. Be willing to learn something new: Keep yourself up-to-date by learning new things and new ideas and find out the reasons behind the changes. The key is to get self-improvement

  1. Be critical of new ideas: Do not accept changes blindly, be willing to speak your mind. Give reasons and offer solutions, attack the problem, and not the person.

Accept changes with a positive mindset and the most important thing is to change yourself instead of trying to make changes in others

10 Refreshing Tips to Solve Your Problems

Problem solving

From the ordinary people to the leaders of the world, they are all facing problems of one kind or another day in and day out. How do you look at problems? Here are ten tips from a positive perspective:

1. Acceptance: Life is about encountering problems. Only those people in the cemeteries are without problems. So we should look at problems positively.

2. Problems are opportunities: When you solve a problem, you are also solving other people’s problems. If you turn it into a business you make money while others are happy to get rid of their problems

3. Be resolute: Don’t ignore the problem. Take the bull by the horns. Do not allow a complicated problem to scare you. All problems become smaller when you don’t dodge them, but confront them

4. Prompt action: A very good example is debt. Don’t think that you can deal with it later. It will only get worse. When interest is added with more interest you will get into a situation that is beyond your control. Running away from a problem is a sure way of getting into more problems.

5. Problems at the workplace: When you face a problem, don’t pass it on to your boss. Solve it yourself and let your boss know, he or she will think highly of you and you will be more assured of yourself to solve bigger problems.

6. Trying is better than doing nothing: Don’t dwell on the problem, do something. Taking action is better than inaction.

7. Build confidence: Solving problems are a great way to boost your confidence. Each time you face a problem, you look at it as a challenge with a positive mindset.

8. Promote creativity: Welcome problems to sharpen your creative mind. The more problems you can solve the more resourceful and creative you will be.

9. Get help: Find out from others how they deal with problems similar to yours.

10. State the problem right: What is the cause of the problem? Go right into the root of it. A problem well stated is a problem half solved

Problems bring you excitement into your life. Let problem solving make you a more confident, resourceful and creative person.

Getting Things Done (GTD) in 7 Easy and Simple Steps

Getting things done

Are you overwhelmed with work every day? Are you busy every day but don’t seem to achieve what you want in life? Do you know how to get things done productively and effectively? The most important thing is to spend a little bit of time to plan ahead. Here are the 7 simple and easy steps to get things done every day:

1. Advance planning: The best time to do planning is in the evening. Find out the things that you need to do in the following day, personal as well as work-related.

2. Prioritize the list: From the list of the things to be done, identify a few items that are really important and you must do them. You allocate a time frame in which you will be productive to complete the tasks.

3. Do it first thing in the morning: Morning is the best time to do the most important tasks of the day; you are full of energy and your mind is fresh. The most important tasks are most likely to be tough as well, so it is best to tackle first.

4. One task at a time: Be focus on the task at hand to get the job done right. You do it with full concentration as it is stressful to do more than one thing at a time

5. Take a deserving break: Upon completion of a task, be smart to take a short break and enjoy a cup of coffee to clear the clutter in your mind and reward yourself for a job done well. In a way you go slow to get things done more effectively

6. Do less: You may have time to get more things done but please follow Pareto’s Principle about the 80/20 rule; just concentrate your time and energy on 20% of the tasks which produce 80% of the results. It is also to simplify your life, so you don’t do too much to get stressed.

7. Reflection: In the evening you ponder about what you have done for the day. Congratulate yourself because you are a self-starter; you take prompt action to accomplished those things that you have decided to do. In short, there is no procrastination. You will be glad to do the same every day because you feel good about yourself that you are really getting things done. You will plan ahead more effectively by concentrating on the 20% of the right things to do to produce 80% of the output.

Planning ahead is the only way to get the most important things done promptly, smoothly, and achieve the desired results. This is a good habit that will last you a lifetime.

Instant Happiness in 10 Things You Do Every Day

Happiness

You can be happy every day. Your happiness is within your reach. Change your thinking and your attitude and you will be happy. Let’s take a look at the 10 things:

1. Think: You can think of happiness or misery. Don’t make it a lousy day by thinking of your past regrets or blunders. Yes, you may encounter problems in your daily life, but, again, you can choose to find solutions rather than dwell on the problems. Think of your contribution and achievements and look forward to living hopefully. The most important thing is to think positively; think of gratitude, thankfulness, and appreciation.

2. Feel: Feeling good about yourself is the best thing you can do to yourself. You can start a new day on a happy note by looking at yourself in the mirror with a broad smile. Thinking of happy thoughts and feeling cheerfully and delightfully are the way to go.

3. Mind: Avoid or reduce stress in your daily life. Do Tai Chi or yoga to promote peacefulness and calmness in your mind. Let your mind free from clutter and confusion.

4. Exercise: Health and fitness promote happiness. Daily aerobic exercise increases oxygen supply to your brain. You will develop the peace of mind and alertness.

5. Sleep: A good night’s sleep helps to restore your energy and make you feel fresh and zestful. Your mind is sharp and you are upbeat and in high spirits about yourself.

6. Breath: Do daily breathing exercises slowly and deeply instead of fast and shallow breathing. You will find tranquility in you and you will get a sense of detachment. It means you are not easily disturbed by external negative influences. You are cool, calm, and collected in all situations.

7. Eat: Enjoy yourself while eating. Use all your senses to indulge and savor the food. Don’t watch TV or do anything else. Look at the food, feel it in your fingers (remember, it’s finger-licking good), smile it, taste it and chew it slowly in your mouth. It is yummy.

8. Work: The saddest thing in life is about not enjoying your work because you spend a big chunk of your time at work. Find happiness in your work or look for something else you enjoy doing every day.

9. Home: Are you eager to go home or you prefer to stay outside after work? Home is your refuge, you should find peace and happiness at home. Take the F.A.M.AL.Y way to create a harmonious and happy home life.

10. Be optimistic: Look at things on the bright side because every cloud has a silver lining. Most of the time your worries are unfounded. Every time you encounter a problem you deal with it promptly and it becomes smaller.

If you do not find happiness in what you do every day, where else can you get it? If you are thinking of some happenings in the distant future to be happy, you may not get it at all. The best thing to do is to live the moment, enjoy the moment, and cherish your happiness.
